The more injuries we have the weaker the team structure becomes,if the players coming in were better than the ones going out then the ins would never have been out in the first place.......

I've noticed a lot of posts recently along these lines, That "injuries breed opportunities more so than anything else". Presumably because it helps us swallow yet another blow to our chances of a premiership.
But for people to assume that because we made a prelim in '05 after we had been suffering from a year of injuries. And that this correlation can equate to causation is absurd logic
Post hoc ergo propter hoc - "after this therefore because of this"
It a logical fallacy; just because something happened chronologically after the first event, doesn't mean the first event caused it.
Just a refresher for some;
Injuries = Bad
Injuries to arguably the best player in team = Worse
There's too great a tendency for some supporters to actively embrace anything that they are powerless to change. As it much easier than having to live with a reality that isn't sugar coated.

Riewoldt (3-5 matches) - Gun player, big loss
Gilbert (4-5 matches) - Fringe defender. Would be handy considering other outs, but can be replaced
Maguire (season) - Has been a liability recently. No loss
Possible outs
Hudghton (1-2 matches) - Elite defender. If out, then a big loss
King (1-2 match) - Solid backup ruckman. Would be handy but not going to win us games
Not the end of the world, folks. If we play like crap injuries aren't an excuse.
Riewoldt (3-5 matches) - Gun player, big loss
Gilbert (4-5 matches) - Fringe defender. Would be handy considering other outs, but can be replaced

If so we 100% apart in our views of his ability to influence a game.
He is more than solid .....he taps very well, uses his body to protect mids...and is smart around the ground.
He is not the AFL's best ruckman, but is long way from its worst..... he certainly can influence the game in a positive manner and is a huge assist to our midfielders.

This is definitely a glass half full argument!!
Hopefully a few extra games into a few players will be good in the long term. One potential positive is that Charlie Gardiner has a definite opportunity to stand up and show he is an AFL player.
Obviously your not going to replace Riewoldt, Maguire and King at their best with other players from our list, but at the end of the day you rely only on the 22 that take the field who should or shouldn't be there is irrellevent in the end!!

Our injuries are problematic, but I hope will force the coach to think outside the square. I also think it's high time for the club to embrace new talent in the liKes of Geary and Allen at this point in time, and maybe even Jack Steven later in the season.
There is an obvious stagnation with our senior team, and injecting young, enthusiastic players with no emotional baggage might be a breath of fresh air for the senior guys. It may also increase their level of responsibility, as they will feel the need to cover for their less experienced team mates.
So, although it is undesirable to have these injuries, it actually does provide an opportunity to freshen up the senior list and add some unpredictability to it, which has been sorely lacking.
