I've always been a huge fan of Milney.
His efforts tonight were absolutely superb.
Even without the 7 goals, he was an outstanding example of reward for effort. His chasing, tackling, harrassing, second and third efforts showed us all why we are so fortunate to be following the greatest footy code on the planet.
Well done, Milney. You should be the 1st pick as small forward in any rep/state side.
Keep up the good work.

Wouldn't be too many negative comments if he did that every week.plugger66 wrote:I have no doubt you inspired him with your negative comments.Spinner wrote:Great game Milne.
But that doesn't mean any of that other 'crap' was unjust at times.
Would there?
...But he has been better this year. He has been allowed to play his role to the maximum, which I think he suffered from for much of last year.

Im not going to apologise because i know he will screw up sooner or later and i dont want to contridict myself.
For F..ks sake, eveyone will screw up sooner or later, what a ridiculous statement. Celebrate a great indivdual game.
Mate i know everyone screws up but i cant help but think of some of the other things he has screwed up for us and he just isnt the type of player that i love. Played a great game but the whole night i was just sitting there thinking whens he going to screw up and apart from kicking it out on the full there was nothing so i take my hat of to him, but until he does this week in week out i ain't apologising.

And apart from his goals,
he laid some great tackes
and provided some forward pressure.
He did niss a couple in the first.
But that one-handed mark in the last.

Trying not to get caught up with the hype of just one game....plugger66 wrote:I am just getting in advance. Please drop Milney in 2 weeks. Only kicked one goal.
....But I would suggest Milne's form, this entire season has banked him a few below par games before he gets dropped.
One game doesn't make a season, but to Milne's credit, he has been performing for much of the entire year already.

I loved Milney's game tonight, but that was hardly indicative of recent form. He kicked seven tonight, and in the previous 50 games he'd averaged one. He kicked more than 3 once in his previous fifty games. His disposal had also been woeful. He had twice as amany clangers as goals heading into tonight's game.
IMO there's nothing wrong with playing him as a permanent forward. Over the last two and a bit seasons he's proved he should not be used outside forward fifty. He's far too wasteful with the ball. Keep him in front of goals where he's most dangerous. I think he probably worries our opposition a lot more there as well.
