Has the awful ring of truth about it.

"But just as Stan Alves found himself on the scrapheap as coach - just one season after leading the Saints to their first grand final in 36 years in 1997 - only to be replaced by a coach in Tim Watson who led the Saints' backwards, so history seems to be repeating itself at Moorabbin."

Ouch.

But in reality, we are only one win away from all being well and the media focussing on someone else. They've jumped off Terry Wallace after he got some wins.

It's a sh!t article.

Paul Gough is obviously a simpleton, as he is missing a lot of important facts...he compares our goal scoring ability in 2004 to 2007 and 2008, but leaves out 2006 when GT was also in charge and the scoring slump began.

Also, GT didn't have us in the finals in every year of his reign!

Another bit of BS was that St.Kilda in 1997 played in it's first GF for 36 years.

What a crock Paul, it was 26 years you idiot!!

Next Pauly, howabout proof reading your articles OK?

Exactly what i was going to say

After the first few errors, i thought, maybe he just had to deliver it quick.

But the guy is obviously making up s*** as he goes along

Well there are at least 2 factual errors in the article, which seems more like a resume of posts on here.

Factual Error #1
We did not make the finals in 2001, 2002 and 2003.
To make the claim that we 'didn't miss the finals Under Thomas' is at the very least a mistake, and at worst an outright lie.

Factual Error #2
Rod Butters did not sack Thomas. The Board of the StKilda Football Club sacked Thomas. The way this statement was written in the article was, IMHO, purely an attempt to give the view that Thomas was sacked for personal reasons rather than those given by the Club.

Did Ray Horsburgh sack Sheedy at Essendon? No, the Board of Essendon sacked Sheedy.

Did Paul Gardner sack Daniher at Melbourne? No, the Board of Melbourne sacked Daniher.

Did Rick Hart sack Connolly at Fremantle? No, the Board of Fremantle sacked Connolly.

Did Richard Pratt sack Pagan at Carlton? No, the Board of Carlton sacked Pagan.

It seems only at StKilda does teh President unilaterally sack the Coach.

Now now... nobody who posts on here would ever put their internet handle to something with those kid of factual mistakes (the Thomas one alone would ensure 5 pages of fighting about nothing to do with what was posted).

Glosses over the shortcomings of Thomas and the decline that was evident in his last year as coach whilst comparing Lyon unfavourably to his error riddled crap about Thomas.
Thomas was IMO leading us backwards and was right to be sacked. Whether Lyon was the right choice remains to be seen.
