Wet game

Post: # 553916Post jonesy »

Forecast is for showers saturday, could be a scrappy affair.

Expect "R Harvey...3 votes" to make a mockery of the others on the field with his wet weather footy smarts. He's pretty much owned football park his entire career anyhow

Don't know how Lyon's tactics wll hold up in the wet. Can only recall one wet game last year against the Pies, where we capitulated to a rabble in the final quarter and surrended a match winning lead.

Unsure if we will select to suit the conditions, you'd hope so. So don't really want to see a tall lumbering side in. Unsure if the train will be much chop in the wet,he generally isn't any chop interstate anyway. A few have called for Jones's head, but his agressive style will be suited to a scrappy affair.

Geary amd Birss will make the trip you'd think, incase we make late changes on the conditions.

Port beat us by about 10 goals over there in the wet last year didn't they? I have been trying to repress the memory for 12 months now.

If it's a wet scrappy affair I'd expect Lenny Hayes & Luke Ball to be amongst the best !!

Apologise for my insensitivity Eastern! Wow that Sydney game was an absolute cracker though, we need a repeat performance if we're going to have a win on Saturday night!!

If it's wet, I think Hayes and Ball will definitely be amongst the best, and I also think Armo has the makings of a very good wet weather player...

That game was one of the best I've been at.......walking out of the SCG in my poncho singing the club song to the top of my lungs and soaking up the death stares from the sad and sorry (and soaking) swans supporters!!!
Gold. The only downer was it took an hour and a half to get out of the stupid SCG car park!!!

I think you are forgetting something guys.........last year it was wet and we got trounced so maybe we shoukld just have low expectations, but i think its fine to discuss players who will have an effect but i think we should be mindful.

Yeah they made us look weak that night. In actual fact the Michael Voss observation made last week was so true that night. I distinctly remember the Port players going hard at the ball, first to the ball and looking like they didn't care if they sustained serious injury in their every attack on the ball.

Seriously, if you've got the video watch it. Our players looked like scared wet rabbits that night. I hope they get stuck into this week because this is the week they need to respond to the claims made by Voss.

Milne a big match for you.

Saw definite improvement in that regard last week, will need to continue that trend to get over Port at AAMI.

I concur with Eastern and Dan Warna.

We seem to have a losy record with this mob and the only recent game we won was overseas (Launny) and this was because of Motlop's inability to unload the pressure after the siren.

Last year was a shocker. They must be better this time around.

The year before they lost by 4 points and Grant spent time with the Gieshen to dispute the maggot errors that occurred (all 14 of them one way). Hopefully this changes too.

"Get in front guys and continue to protect the ball carrier and the corridor will open up". The goals will come.

Go Sainters

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

yup...it was fun sitting in the pouring rain get soaked to the skin and being freezing cold watching us get belted.
but knowing that the port members seats that were empty were opened up for those sitting in the rain to use........for a fee of $5, was so comforting.
i stayed put.

Port made us look like school girls last year in the wet.

I simply can't see us winning tonight, and I thought we would take it all the way with Geelong.

Forecast is for 25-35 knot winds. Possible hail storms towards the coast. Sounds like it's going to be one of those 'arctic blasts' front weekends.

Footy smarts required for this one,not 80% of players running to space. Talls may not be a factor....if Roo is to miss one this is probably a good week to do so

Ahhh! yes they were the days. Long before you had nice seats with TVs, and concrete beneath your feet and a roof over your head, it was standing room only in mud and weeds in the outer. And to keep warm you could put pies in the pockets of your duffle coat.

And if you were an enterprising young kid you could collect aluminium beer cans for extra cash.
