Learning from the Lyons?

Post: # 549658Post Dan Warna »

they parked lynch in the goal square, he dragged a defender to stand by him and basically they used their half forwards running into space or midfielders to kick goals.

should we use FG like that?

forget him running around the half forward line or up the wings, just tell him to stand in the goal square and lead on the break, and forget about all the endurance work they are grinding out of him now.

IMO he can still kick his 50 to 70 goals and be far more of a danger and a threat there than huffing and puffing 100 meters of the action?

Yes.

The problem with the big three is that they suffocate the HFF and midfielder's from kicking goals.

Inclined to agree Dan.

Give Gehrig and Milne the 50 to themselves... when we stream forward, Roo & Kosi can drop into the holes, with Schneider and X at their feet. More than dangerous...

I I reckon FG toe to toe could go any defender, he has burst speed and can be damaging 1 out.

and with schneider, reiwoldt, milne, montagna, dal running in, IMO it would seem more energy efficient than reloading from our HBF continuously.

I think what Geelong did to us with 2 men behind the ball always, was very similar to the grindfest in the early part of 07 against hawthorn, where their forward manned up our defenders when we had the ball, but when they had the ball, left us to have free defenders with 2 men behind, and they continuously reloaded.

at one stage Fiora broke free and ran the lenght of the ground before being taken out, but no one up forward.

thats happened a few times, even for a few minutes.

IMO with FG patrolling the goal square, it gives us a contest, should we break through.
