VFL Standard to AFL standard

Lots of people are calling for Raph's head which is probably fair enough but i'm just wondering if we need to persist with him at AFL level to try and reach his potential.

If Raph goes back to VFL level and dominates has he really learnt anything? yes he may gain some confidence but does it teach him everything a AFL level game can, the pace, the pressure etc etc
