Hate to single blokes out but i seen him numerous times tonight hang back and not go in for the tackle or the hard ball.

Ross why start him on the bench?

Dal needs to find a position he's floating around atm lost

Looks lost and continually fails to have any tangible impact.

Has the chance next week to show what he's really worth.

We need him back bad, but he either doesn't care, doesn't want it, is hopelessly out of form - or injured.

I agree, NDS is not being played in the right position by Lyon. He should be playing more in front of the centre circle, rather than constantly behind it as at present.

Another example of the mediocre coaching which is going to cost us again this year.......... :? :?

Look I will not claim that I am some expert but you do need players around the outside of pack waiting for the ball to come out from the "in and under" players.
Which happened alot tonight for Dal, he got a alot of his touchs from waiting for the ball to come out.

Still managed 20 touchs, with only Sam Fisher getting more with 21.

Well geez that is some great input, learning allot from that post....
Sure sign when we lose, we find a whipping boy and instead of giving some comments that might be useful and constructive, instead we just bag the hell out of them.

I am not just saying that because it's Dal, I would say the same thing for any other player in RED WHITE and BLACK.

Dal was OK tonight.

Not sure why, but he seems to be the reason every time we get done

When it's his turn he puts his head over it.

No doubt, he isn't a genuine inside player, but, why does he have to be?

Finally some one with their eyes open. If you had every player in and under the ball, who the hell would be waiting to receive the ball from inside the pack....

I have been screamed down for saying it before but NDS is an outside receiver.
He needs space to weave and create, sadly he does not score enough goals to make him truly damaging.
And when the oppostion mans up he goes missing.

Let's be honest we were beaten collectively inside AND outside tonight. The worry is that we looked old, slow and SOFT in the midfield.

We really need to bring in some quicker, younger and harder players - for mine that means CJ and Armo need to come in to the midfield for Leigh Fisher, and probably Fiora.

Missed Bakes big time in the middle today too.

There was a moment in the opening of qtr 2 when a bulldog was streaming down the docklands flank.
Dal was cruising across at half pace.
Allowed the guy to run inside 50.
If Dal had run hard he would have forced him to unload earlier.

Not enough effort. !

Dal seems a little teflon coated around here.. Fact is, tonight he was shocking, and he has had a poor start to the year... It seems like he doesnt believe he is a top liner, just a good honest player... He is, or more likely, can be much much more...

Tags, position, possessions etc are all a side issue.. He is not impacting games, and influencing results.. I'm very disappointed with the Dal we saw tonight, and the year he's had so far...

Had minimal impact tonight, and didn't seem to show any accountability too. However, he wasn't the only one who performed below par. Hopefully, he finds the form to be the matchwinner that he has shown he can be.

Not his best night but to have a crack at him about last nights performance without having a crack at Harves, Lenny, Joey and X is pure bias and a disgrace. To say any of those have credits in the bank and do not deserve to be held accountable for that abyssmal display is equally disgraceful. Some of these blokes do not have pace and need to move the ball quickly to compensate, they did not do this after quarter time...our midfield needs an overall desperately.

Their reputations will get them a game next week but if they do not stand up, those reputations will be in tatters and mean nothing.

He is going to be a wasted talent. Like i mentioned 2 weeks ago, he is a guy with immense skill and ability but unfortunately i dont know if we will ever see him reach his full potential due to an absolutely terrible work ethic. When ever he cops a hard tag, he goes missing. Some people get excited about his 20 pos game, but how many of them were damaging? He has the potential to be as good as Ablett Jr, the difference is Ablett works his backside off to break tags and Dal Santo doesn't. Dal Santo is lazy, simple as that.
Defensively.................... we wont even go there.
Ross why start him on the bench?
I think its fairly obvious that RL starts him on the bench to try and break the tag early on, and lets face it he hasn't set the world on fire in the first 2 weeks. If we are going to attribute the first few minutes starting on the bench to Dal Santo's poor game again tonight then we are in serious trouble

all these young blokes speak about their admiration for harvs, yet they don't seem to learn anything from him...

harvey looks quicker than any of our midfield due to his ability to "gut run".. he busts his balls and can get clear of any opponent as a result of hard work.

i refuse to criticise dal for tonight brcause singling players out when the team was that poor is not fiar or reasonable.

The difference is Ablett is in the centre more often than not. Ablett isn't a hard ball specialist and he doesn't spend a great deal of time worrying about what his opponent is doing. Thompson still backs him to beat his opponent. RL hasn't shown the same faith in Dal. I don't know how you can expect Dal to play like Ablett when he's coming off the bench into the backline and onto the wings.

Dal, Ball and Hayes has 22 clearances against Carlton between them. For some reason, RL insists on giving those three as little time on the ball as possible. I can't understand it. Ablett, Bartel and Corey spend most of the time on the ball for Geelong. Why do we unnecessarily disadvantage ourselves by playing lesser players in the centre all the time?

Have to agree, Harvey is still our "gut run" king and that is a disgrace in itself. We will never even get close to winning a premiership until we have others willing to follow the great man's lead.

No doubt we had plenty of players down tonight, Lenny Hayes is another who didn't have a great night, but the difference is he will bust his balls to lay a tackle, get in and under and put his body on the line for the team when he is having a bad one. I dont think i can remember ever leaving a game thinking either Lenny Hayes or Luke Ball didn't give 100%. Even on their bad days, they still find a way to contribute. Can i say the same about Dal Santo? Not a chance

Very good point, this rotation bullsh#t, is for the teams that don't have an absolute gun midfield set up. We should only use it (rotating lesser mids in) sparingly for centre square clearances, start 'resting' these blokes (Dal, Lenny & Ball) next to the full forward...it's been brought in a talked up by the likes of Malthouse and Wallet...if you want a clearance, get your best in there. You cannot tell me, with the scores level and one minute to go in the GF, a coach will have his 2nd and 3rd stringers in there because it's part of a set rotation. Time to challenge our mids to stand up in the heat for 80% of a game!
