This week I had the honor of writing the poem that was selected to be on the Saints banner. This was, undoubtedly, one of the great moments of my life. Wow.
I want to take a moment to say why this was so important to me, and why you might want to try writing something for the banner too.
I really struggle to explain to people what St. Kilda means to me. People see me wearing a jumper, or a beanie, or a scarf, but they don’t really “get itâ€

ive asked him.
it was the week after the lions v saints game at the Gabba in 07 and he didnt get to se his milestone banner because we had it around the wrong way. he asked me if anyone in the cheer squad took a photo of it because he was yet to see it (this was on a thursday night at training a week after the game) and i said no, but there is a photo of it on the website Saintsational, and he said he will go on tonight because he is a regular reader!

Great post Mark Living in Crrowville i understand some of your feelings. I and my oldest son were invited into the change rooms at AAMI by GT a few years ago and it was just fantastic, We have also helped hold the banner up at AAMI durng a Wizard cup game a couple of years ago.. that was fantastic. We never ever take anything "Sainters" lightly. Congrats on getting your saying up on the banner it looked awesome on TV
seriously this is a must read for every saints fan, maybe send this to the club and have them read it to the players, coaches or anyone. I almost feel like grabbing a jumper and running on to the field right now, and it's a sunday night and I have the flu....
god I love this club!

having been in the cheersquad for a time, I have to say I concur with your sentiments. No matter how many time's I went out onto the ground to put up the banner, the atmosphere of the crowd when they boys came out, it was electric.
Obviously you are better with the pen then you think, as I am sitting here stuck for words to describe my experiences
One mans trash though, whenever I went out to do the banner, I always made sure to grab a piece of it, be it the cloth, a letter or number, a picture... some people might scrap these pieces of paper, yet I helped make it and my boys have seen and and gone through it...
not sure if I got anything across in this post but I tried.
congrats to you Mark.
