The Big G's Reverse Swing
Just a quick thread to highlight the fact that Fraser Gehrig doesn't swing the ball left to right like most left footers - and like most commentators seem to crap on about all the time.
The amount of times I've heard 'And Gehrig's got it in the right pocket for a left footer' etc. etc.
He actually swings it back the other way. Right to left.
That is all.

Interesting point. I think I have seen him do both actually, but more often than not, it is definatly as you say.
Either way, love the big fella. Hope he has a big one on Sat.

i don't know about reverse swing but i remember his reverse mullet of a few years ago and i wish he'd bring it back
on the op, roger you are probably right and his natural kick is a "fade" rather than a "draw".
but being a left-footer he's better off kicking from the right pocket regardless of which way he moves them. the angle is better.

I think he does.evertonfc wrote:He swings the ball both ways; he doesn't have control over it.
He's a great set shot from the 'wrong' pocket for e left footer and leads there purposely for this reason.
Notice how he also plays on quickly form a mark or a free from the 'right' side for a left footer to open the angle? It's because of the reverse swing, that the 'right' pocket for a regular lefty isn't the best pocket for G.
