eases him into it...this way he can get a good run around

if he was playing ff he might not get the run he would get at chf...

but then again...what the F*** do i know?

Pity we don't have Brad Dick.

The half forward line could be:

Eddy Maguire Dick

Win it for HIM!

Does anybody have any idea of the other boys not named in the side, those being Connors, Chivers, Miles, Van Rheenan and Haretuku (apart from Baker and Attard) and if they are all playing in the reserves?

It looks a prety strong side and it shows that it looks like Attard is the only player who is injured which is very promising.

re-read my post...

also to this maybe they dont want the added pressure of goose taking a big forward...playing at chf gives him the space to roam...match-practice/fitness

I've never been able to find a reserves list prior to games,
VFL site only gives seniors

although they ahve another practice match this week- their season is much shorter;

yes but when was the last time you remember goose playing at CHF.
all the things you say are correct and im sure that is why they are doing it but in the end it just shows furthermore that the afl affiliate club has the final say over the vfl side.

he's be okay as a chf. takes a good mark and is tough and reasonably mobile. his kicking isn't bad and he has been known to kick a goal or two.

riewoldt would be able to hold down chb. why wouldn't goose (at his best) be able to hold down chf?

this might be the sort of spark he needs to get back to the confidence and exhuberance he had in 2004-2005 pre-injury. freed of defensive responsibilities he might be able to find some of the qualities that made him so damaging in those days.

also, perhaps casey wants to win the game and sees goose as the best forward option they have.

Goose was drafted as a key forward.
No reason why he cant play there in a VFL match.

Lets him roam the ground at will, instead of having to follow an opponent.

Also will give him time to get back into the pace of footy as he can watch the play up ahead of him.

The thing that surprises me most about Goose at CHF is that it's Allen at CHB... who was used as a fwd during preseason.

Who cares what they write in the paper re positions? Does it matter?

They play wherever coach want them to play on the match day!

Good to see the Saints Ressies playing in a civilised part of Melbourne....it's almost like the good old days at Moorabbin before the seniors!

saintspremiers has got it right, the vfl sides never ever are the same on the weekend, I remember last season we used to have things like Allen named on the wing, mathews named at CHF.

But the seniors will come from that list, expect probably Maguire and Allen to spend a lit of time at opposite ends to what they've been named.

The Coach will play them where he sees it fit.
