I sure hope so! I've always wondered why so many teams around the world, who are among the most successful in their respective competitions wear RED. Essendon in the AFL, ManU, Arsenal and Liverpool in the EPL, South Sydney (20 flags) and St.George (15 flags) in the NRL, Bayern Munich, AC Milan.

Their findings suggest that simply wearing a red shirt has given football teams an advantage - thanks to our deep-rooted biological response to the colour.The research, by the University of Plymouth and Durham University, has been published in the Journal of Sports Sciences....

In nature, red is often associated with male aggression - and in sport, the research demonstrated competitors wearing red had increased success in Olympic combat sports. However, wearing red obviously doesn’t mean teams will score more goals, or having a blue brand doesn’t guarantee business success! But it could be that people subconsciously adopt the characteristics of these colours and in turn become more successful.â€

Is a compelling reason why our clash jumper should be predominately red backround.

Not news to me as the white and yellow jumpers look insipid and our results back up the theory.

Ross Lyon and the club needs to see this evidence so we can leave nothing to chance...wear red and least look strong and aggressive...

Yes but what colour were all their clash guernseys? Manchesters was blue one year, Arsenal was completely white. Wasn't there a yellow Liverpool clash one at one stage (if I'm wrong, please forgive, but their clash is not red either?

The yellow peril was the clash guernsey, not home guenrsey so not sure how this argument is relevant.

Plus given the recent success of Souths and St George, not the best examples!
