Liked the effort. Particularly once we lost 5 players, particularly when we had so many people out. Some of the injuries - Rooey was 98% to play,
McQualter BOG in intraclub and rolled his ankle at home.
That brought a number of kids into line up. Enabled us to expose our young kids to the line up and the pressure of AFL football. (One name I didn't hear, might have been Geary or Miles) Eddie, Xav Clarke, thought they stood up.
People sit back and see the speed of C. Jones and X. Clarke, very good.
The other objective was to get game time into our senior players. And build on our summer training.

For those who missed the Montagna interview which I had included in the Live Match Day reports, here it is again:
It's good to start with a win" he said. Attitude of boys" We spent a lot of time in the preseason working on our structures, and the pressure. That was really important without out best player tonight. The boys were super on pressure tonight, but that got us over the line. We really focused on turnovers too.
We've worked a lot on structures, and calls, and when you have 2 experienced ruckmen it really makes a difference.
(Young players did well question)
Those young guys are some of our fittest players. Geary, might be a spot for him with Baker out.
Jones, Miles and someone else mentioned favourably by Montagna.
Fraser more than happy to take a more back seat role this year.
Question about Raph Clarke: highly rated by players and staff key is consistency.
Question on Nick riewoldt: not too serious, just a little bit sore, still 5 -6 games to go. they just want to nurse him and be right for round 1.
