I am not sure how to bring this up but I thought I heard a lady golfer say that John King passed away this week. He was the mentor to Nicky Winmar and many others. I hope this is not true but if anyone can confirm one way or another that would be great.

Unfortunately this is true, although he actually passed away early last week, I believe.

Kingy was a nice bloke...and a larger than life character!

He will be sadly missed by a lot of people, particularly in the football and golfing circles.

Yes, he was a great guy o have a chat with about the Saints, especially the young kids. I'm pretty sure he once caddied for Tiger Woods - he loved to show the photo he had taken with him.

His funeral was in Mildura yesterday.
