good day- another brick in the wall- major partner over 3 yrs- Global company - good fit
Biggest windows and door manufacturer around the world.
Money is a private business- commercial confidentiality- but BIG company and big in sport -a Major amount,
pressed for amount; 6 mill queried; and he wouldn't say- Substantial deal
front and back of jumper and coaches etc.

when talks began: about 2 1/2-3 mths since they made contact- on alogn term deal such as this ,working out what they want and if club can deliver- challenge of being international company- lawyers getting it right and no one locked in to the point you can't get out
several potential sponsors but they did get in early, they approached saints- these guys put their hand up during the challenge,
they were aware the saints hot property, no; 2 tv rating, crowd numbers, membership numbers media exposure - seen as good property they were shopping around and did approach saints and saints then convinced them that the fit would be good,
what about the other possibles.? sponsors- able to attract them some other role- only so much space tec? how to maintain the others involved.
Multiple properties- others want to make sure your major sponsor is set and what their brand is and whether they wish to be involved with them
it's a new business to the AFL so doesn't compete allows others to come in behind and their brands wont be ambushed-
other properties include community involvements etc mot just jumpers etc.

Training- David misson, Mulkearns, Barber, Wallis, steven Tingay
ticks alot of boxes
captaincy- query on dal- or one captain- again they pressed archie who said it's up to Ross and Staff, coaching staff stable,
Dal and lenny just involved as representative of the players, Lenny's quality, roo's B$F and his work, number of guys available, big job for one and maybe announced in the next couple of weeks or early new year when the coaches and leadership team make a decision.

Just said Jeld-Wen very big company and love to support sports.

On the money was very coy when asked if it was 2million a year, kept saying it was prety substantial amount, when asked if 2 million a year was a prety substantial amount said that 2 million was a SUBSTANTIAL (after refering to the deal previously as prety substantial) amount and he " would like to think it was as much as that"it includes a lot different types of sponsership front and back of jumper and coach property.
My take is that it is slightly more than 2 million (maybe incentives) if not 2 million a year.

Took 3 months to negotiate, had other offers at the time but stuck with Jeld-Wen as they made the intial contact. No 2 club for TV ratings this year blah blah blah.

Then went on to talk about 2nd teir sponsers, saying as it is a major company others will be more willing to come aboard. Expect to see some more.

Talking about Misson that the effects are already being felt and believesthey got a lot of professionalism in the back room now in terms of medical staff.

Talked about the captain situation for next year, nothing solid said they had a few players that could captain and the coaching/players will decide later if one captain or two or three.

Ok so no mistakes I will do a transcript of when they were talking about the money side of things.

Micheal: How are you a good day for you yesterday?

Archie: Yeah well I think anther brick in the wall for us yesterday, it was a pretty big anouncement, and a major partner for three years, which is terrific to bring on a global company which is a very good fit for us.

Micheal: Tell us about the company and tell us about how much money they are going to give you Archie.

Archie: Well the money is... Is a private business globally which is about 3 billion dollar turnover company, We can't tell you how much there given us but it's prety substantial over three years, the company is the biggest windows and doors manufacturers in the world, with about half of production and revenues coming out of the US, and are a US headquaters company, very big into sport around the world, they do the 5th major in the GOLF and obviously very happy to have them as a major part of the saints for three years.

Micheal: Over three years, would they be sponsering for as much as 6 million?

Archie: Oh well if you look at it is substantial

Micheal: Thats prety substantial isn't it? 6 million over 3 years would be prety good?

Archie: If thats whats being reported, well thats an interesting number, I'd like to think it is as much as that.

Micheal: So thats not out of the ball park, put it that way/

Archie: Well it's in commercial confidence that we struck with the guys, they really think that the value is in the front and back of the jumper and the coaches property, so it's a fairly major... it's a substantial deal.
