NAB Cup and our new recruits.

Post: # 495957Post Otiman »

Now, I'm all for seeing our new recruits play NAB cup football this year, both for their own experience at reading the pace of AFL level football, and so us supporters can see them in full flight.

However, in all honesty i'm not expecting any of these guys to play in 2008, unless we get a whole heap of injuries.

Given everyone is fit, name your current NAB cup side. If possible you can include a NAB Challenge team too (if we drop out of the NAB cup, we play in the NAB Challenge).

I reckon there is a fair possibility that in some games next year, both Gardiner and King will be unavailable - this would pave the way for McEvoy to battle it with Rixy for the chance to partner Kosi as a ruck combo.

maybe as a forward this year, not as a ruckman,

pretty easy to put a knee through his rib cage at that weight.

His priority is to pack on the pounds. His diet should be

B'fast

4 eggs (whole)
1/4 puond of meat
1 piece of toast with butter

Lunch

1/2 pound of meat or cheese or part thereof
12 oz of milk
portion of carbs
some fruit

dinner

1/2 pound of meat
12 oz of juice
serving of more carbs.
and veges.

High calorie protein shakes 2 to 3 times per day.

Packs on 4 kilos of muscle per month for 3 months. (=12 kg) and alos stacks on 6 kilos of fat over this time.

Then trims down a bit and works on speed. comes out 15kg heavier after 4 months.

then he'll be ready!

Karnak,

You know your stuff - any chance of preparing a non-seafood/pork/eggs diet for someone wanting to lose weight?

I need to get back down to 78kgs after a Noosa binge tipped me well into the 80s.

If young Ben needs tips on putting on weight, sheesh, he can talk to me anyday of the week :D

I think Luke van Rheenen will play NAB cup as he had a full season with the Scorps, plus I think he would have bulked up over the summer...........

Also a back pocket who is disqualified?
Seriously, Geary, Goddard, King, both Gardiners, McEvoy, Steven, Armitage and Howard should all be given a run.

FB: R.Clarke Goose howard
HB Geary Chips ferguson
C joey gram fiora
HF X Allen roo
FF schneider kosi milne

R: VR, eddy, armo

I from: Gsrdiner, fish, gilbert, birss, hayes, dal santo, rix, jones, stevens, conners, McEnvoy, baker

Rested:
Harvey, Max, Gehrig, ball, king, BJ

Would like to see allen get a go along side the workhose roo, kosi to move to full forward to allow us to ruck both a baulked up VR and Gards who needs as much match time as possible. I would like to see the clarkes work their arses off over preseason and put their hands up to play the whole preseason cup. Can't wait to see them both, especially raph, have a full preseason training.

I would like to see fish work into the midfield to cover the tagging role that bakers suspension opens up. Would also like to see gram, eddy and armo given a chance to push for a midfield role along with birss.

If I was lyon I would decalre the running half back/back pocket position up for grabs with the move of gram into the middle/wing. Geary and howard were showing good form in this position for the scorps near the end of the season so I would love to see both put to the test in the preseason. Tell them the chance to tag a swans forward (bucanon?) in place of an injured attard is up for grabs. My money is on geary but look for howard to suprise most. Half back might be the place to teach this athlete how to play the game.

Don't expect the recient draftees to make an impact but will see how they go over summer.

Whilst there will obviously be some expermintaion..I reckon it wouldnt do us any harm to field a reasonably strong side.

Unless I'm mistaken we've won ONE preseason cup game since we lifted the 2004 trophy..I wouldnt be fielding a totally 2nd string side.

One or the other of King and Gardy need to play each game..perhaps paired with Van Rheenan?

agreed, it's less experimentation and more giving certain players in certain positions a shot at pushing for selection. By adding armo and eddy to the midfield rotation (along with gram and fish) will give us a better understanding on who could make the leap in to the midfield for the first couple of months of the season.

We know what we will get from King, perhaps 1-2 games before round 1 might be enough. Gards on the other hand needs as much game time as possible.

also as I said earlier both geary and howard were pushing for selection late in the year so it would be wonderful to test both out.

Starting with our Round 22 team, and adding in the players I believe should be playing NAB cup.

Round 22 vs Tigers
1. Shane Birss
2. Jason Blake
3. Raphael Clarke
4. Xavier Clarke
5. Nick Dal Santo
6. Matthew Ferguson
7. Aaron Fiora
8. Leigh Fisher
9. Samuel Fisher
10. Fraser Gehrig
11. Sam Gilbert
12. Jason Gram
13. James Gwilt
14. Robert Harvey
15. Lenny Hayes
16. Clinton Jones
17. Justin Koschitzke
18. Matthew Maguire
19. Stephen Milne
20. Leigh Montagna
21. Nick Riewoldt
22. Andrew Thompson

In:
- Armitage
- Allen
- Gardiner
- Gardiner/King (one of in each game, alternating)
- Schneider
- Dempster
- Geary
- Goddard

Out:
- Thompson
- Gwilt
- L. Fisher
- Ferguson
- Hayes
- C. Jones
- Harvey
- Blake
- Birss

Team:

B: L. Fisher Gilbert Dempster
HB: Gram S Fisher R. Clarke
C: Fiora Ball X. Clarke
HF: C. Gardiner Koschitzke Riewoldt
FF: Milne Gehrig Schneider

Foll: M.Gardiner, Armitage, Dal Santo.

I/C: Allen, Geary, Goddard, Montagna, King, Jones.

Rotations: (Not including spine)

Half Back Flank- R. Clarke, Gram, Goddard, Geary.
Midfield - Ball, Armitage, Dal Santo, Geary, Schneider, Montagna, Jones.
Wing - Fiora, X. Clarke, Goddard, Jones.
Half Forward Flank - Allen, Riewoldt, C. Gardiner.
Forward Pockets - Milne, Schneider, X. Clarke, Jones.
Tall Forward - Gehrig, Koschitzke, M. Gardiner, Riewoldt.
Ruck: King, Gardiner, Koschitzke.

I believe i'm one ruckman or CHF short. Also would like to squeeze Eddy and C. Jones in there somewhere. However, I have faith in our involvement with the scorpions that these guys will develop well.

Edited for a 6man bench.

You can have more than four players on the bench I think, so you should be able to squeeze, Eddy/ Jones and another Ruck/ Forward in there...

I thought that was only for high temperature games, but i'll use it anyway. Makes it easier on me.
