Pratt may lose his award and Carlton presidency

This is fast becoming one of the best off seasons in recent memory....
First our board shake up, then Benny and now Pratt......
I bet the AFL/Dimwit will conveniently sweep this issue under the carpet and just focus on Benny at their 19 November meeting.

pratt won't lose his gong as that sort of behavioiur is encouraged
as for bringing the game into disrepute, lol as if its moral standing could drop further
Demetriou is a pissant bully and like any bully he's scared of people bigger than him.
he wont touch pratt because dimwit is a coward.

pratt ripped off the australian public with his collusion in price fixing....and he also ripped off the paying afl supporter and the 15 other clubs with his tanking to get draft picks......one is as plain as the other.....

exactly.barks4eva wrote:If Pratt is allowed to remain Carlton president, then Demetriou should be sacked for bringing the game into disrepute
For Demetriou to survive, he needs to oust Pratt and also sanction the Eagles.
Banning Cousins for 2008 is a non-brainer and won't earn him a brownie point at this stage.
If the commission is really fair dinkum, they do as I've said AND sack Demetriou for his lack of action specifically on Cousins/Eagles and more broadly the whole drug testing fiasco.
I just hope should Rudd get into power, he'll lament Demetriou just as Howard has re the drugs issue.

demetriou has presided over a time of testing for the AFL and has failed at every challenge.barks4eva wrote:If Pratt is allowed to remain Carlton president, then Demetriou should be sacked for bringing the game into FURTHER disrepute

Is the Pratty scandal the real reason why Vodafone is holding off making their official announcement to sponsor Carlton next year? If so, what a delicious outcome this could be.

He's already lost his credibility.
And his respect.
And his integrity.
And forever from this point in time he has had his name changed with the addition of two extra names,
so his full name when ever spoken or written about is
- "Disgraced Businessman Richard Pratt"
Oh I'm enjoying this

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Pratt gives up honours after scandal
Billionaire Richard Pratt has handed over his Order of Australia honours to avoid involving the awards scheme in ''any form of controversy'', a spokesman says.
The cardboard magnate last week resigned his membership of the Order of Australia. His medals and other insignia associated with the national honours have been handed back.
Mr Pratt was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for services to industry, sport and the arts 20 years ago, and was upgraded to Australia's highest civic honour, the Companion of the Order of Australia, a decade ago.
His company, Visy Industries, was fined $36 million in the Federal Court last year over price-fixing deals in the cardboard box industry with competitor Amcor.
A spokesman for Mr Pratt confirmed the businessman had returned his honours to the Council for the Order of Australia.
''Mr Pratt has the highest respect for the Honours system and for all its many worthy recipients,'' the spokesman said.
''However, given his understanding that the Honours Committee was considering whether he should retain his Honours, he had no wish to involve the Committee or the Honours themselves in any form of controversy.

Just a question - do correct me if I'm wrong - but Visy are a major supplier of materials to AFL venues.
General cardboard, fast-food boxes, ticketing, etc...
Surely he's fleeced millions off AFL fans through price fixing. Isn't that bringing the game into disrepute?
I feel like Dan Warna.

You would be right IF the AFL had any consideration for the fans of its member clubs. They don't !!evertonfc wrote:Just a question - do correct me if I'm wrong - but Visy are a major supplier of materials to AFL venues.

Pratt may have had to hand back his AO...due to ethics (not his mind, but the Councils who gave him a nudge nudge wink wink and allowed him to hand it back rather than be stripped of it)...
But the Blues do not operate that way...having a lack of ethics is a badge of honour on their Board....and is not just tolerated, but expected
So I cannot see him losing the Carlton Presidency anytime soon.......well at least not of the Blues own volition.
