2008 season...when does it start?

Post: # 471488Post saintsRrising »

Hi...anyone know when the 2008 first round starts???

Easter is early next year...Good Friday is March 21

Does anyone know if it will start on the normal last weekend in March...or whether it will be a week early due to Easter?

I think the season starts on Thu 20 March (I'm betting we will be involved).

There will be 2 bye weekends next yr, one of those being for a State of Origin Carnival !!

I mentioned this a few weeks ago when talk of the Carlton vs Richmond Good Friday match came out. As Eastern said, starting the season a week earlier at Easter will just assist the AFL in bringing in the SOO weekend. Lucky for them I guess. Don't know what they would have done if SOO wasn't happening next year. The AFL miss a crowd boosting holiday weekend? I think not.

will the timing of the Olympics have an effect?

Heard today it would in relation to the V8 races. which then affects the Bikes
and I would assume the AFL

Well if, long term, we are stuck with only 22 rounds, 2 bye weekends per year and S.O.O each year would be a good thing.....at least it shortens the off season by a week!
