Heaps of salary cap room?
Hamill 400k
Gehrig 350k
Thompson 140k
Voss 150k
M. Clarke 120k
-----------------
= 1160k
-----------------
Take off 400k for pay rises to re-signed players.
Then round down ...
Basically I reckon we should have around 700k in the salary cap.
That's a fair whack of money and would allow us to chase any player in the AFL.
I would be disappointed if we didn't make a play for a reasonable quality midfielder in the draft as we can certainly fit them in.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

we didnt have any "veterans" last year so we could have more rookies so AT full pay was countedOh When the Saints wrote:Hamill 400k

Re: Heaps of salary cap room?
Both Harves and Max were veterans inside the main list so only half their salaries were included in the salary cap. Thommo was eligible to be on the veterans list however it would meant only 1/3 of their payments would have been excluded from the salary cap.st_Trav_ofWA wrote:we didnt have any "veterans" last year so we could have more rookies so AT full pay was countedOh When the Saints wrote:Hamill 400k

This is from a previous post of mine:
Veteran Payments
by Snakeman66
Club main lists must have a minimum of 38 players. You can also have 2 Veterans outisde the main list or they can be within the 38 players on the main list so potentially we could have 40 players (38 + 2 veterans).
In the past we have included veterans (this year Banger and Frankie) in the main list due to Salary cap limits with only 50% of their salary going towards that Salary cap. (If we had 3 veterans, 2 could be outside the main list but one would have to be on the main list and 1/3 or their salary would count towards the salary cap. To have more than two veterans, you would need to do your sums to see if this benefits you cap wise.
If Harves was on $300K and say Max $150k, $225K would not be included in cap. If we had a third veteran Thommo on $150K, 1/3 of their salaries would not be included ($200K).
I think both Max and Thommo(both over 30 and 10 years) would be eligible but only 1 would nominated as a veteran on my assumption that Harves is getting paid more that Max and Thommo.
Don't dwell on the past.
Look to the future.

These figures are to low Sammy add 100, G add 50-75, Thommo add 60-80 Voss the same Clarke ok but also add another 400-500 to what they are paying next year so we may have with salary cap increases about what you said but with different figures.Oh When the Saints wrote:Hamill 400k

Yep....
Hamill definitely over 500....Gehrig easily in the 400's.
How nobel is Gehrig...quits at the top instead of scrambling another 400k over 2 years without putting in.
And that is POST NUMBER 1000......CELEBRATIONS!!!!!!!

Re: Heaps of salary cap room?
Allowance needs to be made in figures for payment made to Hamill as a financial settlement that will need to be included in next years salary cap. Was his contract heavily back ended?plugger66 wrote:These figures are to low Sammy add 100, G add 50-75, Thommo add 60-80 Voss the same Clarke ok but also add another 400-500 to what they are paying next year so we may have with salary cap increases about what you said but with different figures.Oh When the Saints wrote:Hamill 400k

O'Keefe gets very good delivery at Sydney and they play to his strengthsSaints Premiers 2006 wrote:i would love rok in our team...he would be he ideal replacement for sammy...
pick 9 + gop for rok???
i would do it in an instant
what he does isn't anything super special...the way he is used is very effective
with good delivery and ball movement, it's not too hard to turn a player into one as effective as Ryan O'Keefe
he is good but we could easily hold on to pick 9 and develop an O'Keefe from amongst ourselves
also, he ain't gonna make our poor disposal better
and the need for this o'keefe is one of the cliches i hate most regarding the saints...as if everything will just suddenly click and she'll be right because we get him or someone similar...much more to it than that, i'm afraid
my understandng was that Hamill took an annual pay cut and extended his contract by 3 years when he signed a 5 year deal, that was my understanding according to the press at the time.
the backended deal was in regards to his original contract?
outside rumours and further villification of hamill wouldn't mind being correcte by someone who knows the truth.
