Every year the same issue pops up...why is Brownlow night the Monday before the Grand Final??
Quite often, the winner of the brownlow plays in the GF, and means the winner can't properly celebrate the win (unless you are a Nathan Burke tea totaller type!).
IMO going to the brownlow is akin to a massive industry party where you are out partying all night and have a 2 day recovery afterwards....nothing wrong with that considering the average age of AFL footballers!
Why not hold brownlow night on the Monday AFTER the GF, so everyone is party mood instead?
When should Brownlow night be???

Interesting. There are some calls to have it moved back to the Monday after Round 22, so as to not distract the 2 GF's teams preparations. What that does do though is disrupt 8 teams finals preparations..would make for a pretty sober night LOL. The days of Clubs letting their players get on the sauce in a big way on a Monday before a final went out with Ron Barassi plastic footy boots.
Having it the Monday AFTER the GF would certainly ensure one Club's table would be full of hi-jinx LOL

But the AFL under the current leadership won't do it.
They think they need the brownlow as part of Grand Final week, which perhaps has some validity if you have 2 interstate teams in the Granny.....but provided there is one Vic team in the GF, as you can see from the media right now, the brownlow is not needed to generate news/views/interest/hype etc in the lead up week.
Also, presenting the brownlow medalist to the crowd pre match at the GF can't happen this year either!
