Brownlow Medal

Post: # 461821Post saintm »

Saints invitees are

ST KILDA: Dal Santo, Fisher, Gram, Montagna together with one of the co-captains and of course Rob Harvey, as all past Medallists are invited. Think Steve Silvagni also scores an invitation (maybe as full-back of the century?), as Jo is always featured in the fashion spreads from the night.

Full list of invitees is detailed in this article

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/ ... 07,00.html

For those of you who expressed an interest in recruiting Rebecca Twigley, I read where she is a possibility to be reporting in the red carpet special on Channel 7.

Not sure who will win, as the Geelong favourites in Ablett and Bartel may take votes off each other. Perhaps Brent Harvey will get up.

'together with one of the co-captains'

he is the face of the club.

He was at a Brownlow event in Perth.

Im talking about someone who wasnt at a Brownlow event.

Im sure its happened because i remember stories about journalists rocking up to a players house who had just won the medal and he saw on Tv.

No player who has won the brownlow has never been invited. Some have not attended but all have been invited.

You're not thinking of ineligible players, are you? i.e Corey McKernan and Chris Grant.

brief history of brownlow

early years there was no 'event'
But I still think that there was a player- Not at the evening in the time of televised presentations.

Paul Meldrum of Carlton was leading at one stage and was not invited. I think he finished with about 15 votes.

Even earlier, George Young got off to a flier and was near the top of the leader board but wasn't invited.

Edited after looking it up.

Meldrum finished 3rd in '87 behind Lockett and Platten. He was run away leader with 12 votes after 5 rounds.

Young I think was 1975

Tony Lockett - 1987. St Kilda had 9 wins.

Robert Harvey - 1998 (32 votes). St Kilda had 13 wins.

Shane Crawford - 1999 (28 votes). Hawthorn had 10.5 wins.

Can be done!

But no St Kilda player has had a good enough season to poll enough votes.

So how many votes will harvs get? I reckon 9 votes.....sam fisher is god , but will he take the eye of the umpires...many possessions racked up behind the play , and switching the play in defence ..suspect next year he"ll poll well, know he's "known"
