Dear Member
Nathan Burke on the Footy Show last Thursday, displayed the type of outstanding character and integrity that is the reason why Saints members respect and love him. It is representative of the leadership he will bring to the Board and the Club if the St Kilda Footy First (SKFF) group is elected.
The only way that this will be resolved before the EGM is if members like you send us enough proxies to convince the current president and his group that the outcome is inevitable. So help the Club, use the proxy sent to you in the SKFF mail out, or download it from our website stkildafootyfirst.com and mail it today.
If you have already posted your proxy form to the SKFF team, THANKYOU. You do not have to do anything else when the St Kilda Football Club sends you the EGM material. Your support is appreciated.
SKFF has heard some media commentators asking what is broken at St Kilda Football Club. Our material and our website has set out many things that are broken.
What is broken?
Despite the best player list we have had since the 1960s, we haven’t made it to a Grand Final in the current President’s eight year reign. Since 2004, we have fallen from third, to fourth, to eighth to ninth position.
The injury problem that Saints fans know has existed for many years, and robbed us of our best team on the park, has not been fixed for six seasons.
Staff numbers lowest in the AFL. This lowers expenses and raises the profit, but when we are last in revenue, it is unsustainable.
While the current President has been on the board, he has had five changes of CEO, four chief financial officers and four senior coaches, which doesn’t give the stability that is needed for success on and off the field.
Staff turnover has never been higher. Staff morale never lower.
We were second bottom of all clubs in spending on recruitment, and half a million less than Collingwood.
AFL official statistics for 2006 show that our revenue fell to last of all 16 clubs, and in 2007 we have lost our two major sponsors.
Because we will be last in the AFL to have an elite training facility.
We spend less on our members than any other club.
We have had the same three man footy sub-committee for six seasons, of whom, only one has played AFL football (during the 1980s). SKFF has three football sub committee members with over 550 combined senior AFL games, played over the last three decades. The SKFF sub-committee will exist to support Ross Lyon and will act as representative of the football department to the board.
We find it very disappointing that the current president would try and take the decision out of the member’s hands and instead call for the AFL to act as arbitrator.
The SKFF already has three confirmed sponsors worth in excess of $1M who have confidence in this ticket. We are also in discussions with many more. These companies have asked for confidentiality pending the EGM.
We expect the current board to announce an increased spend in the football department at tonight’s Board meeting (Tuesday 18 September). It is a shame this wasn’t announced in the last meeting, before the challenge, or even better back in 2004 and 2005 when we lost two consecutive preliminary finals.
The SKFF team, profiled on stkildafootyfirst.com has the skills, experience and ability in football, finance and management to fix what is broken.
We remain comfortable with leaving the decision of who the best group will be to take the Club forward, in the trust and care of Saints members.
THE FOOTY FIRST TEAM
Members to choose their Board
St Kilda members will retain their right to vote for the next St Kilda Football Club Board.
The current St Kilda Board today called for Footy First to lodge a plan for the Club to the AFL for approval.
“In light of opinion polls tracking at over 80% and the overwhelmingly positive support we are receiving from members after only two days since we announced our ticket, it is not surprising that the current President and his group would try to take the decision out of the hands of our members,â€

its like they are trying to pull the heart strings of the supporters by putting burkie out there so its like we are voting for him not westaway
i wish the SFF would just call it like it is and say its a RB issue they have they want him gone thats it instead of all the hoopla about spending money on this and that ect

Great news...
Bit of spin here....as I have known for some time that the Board had decided to increase spending for next year and had already upped this year.ashjam wrote: We expect the current board to announce an increased spend in the football department at tonight’s Board meeting (Tuesday 18 September). i dont think what hutchy said was that low its a fair call about the conflict of intrest
what would of happened if the baker case had gone to the MRP ???
as for the spending side of things lets face it most anti RB ppl are anti RB cause the sacking of GT and the spat with GT so lets for arguments sake say GT and RB never had the spat and the club was all hunky dory with GT running every thing and RB smiling along happy to let it be then would anyone want to hear from westaway ??
would the spending over the last few years be a deciding factor then ? or is it as i feel a RB thing . RB made an ass of himself and now they want to exit him out ?
would people suport SFF if they came in 2005 and said we want to take the power off GT spend all the money on player managers ect and if GT didnt like it we want to replace him ? i think SFF have let RB do the hard work the ugly work and are now going to sweep in while he is still held in a bad light from the GT saga
thats why i would love to hear SFF tell the truth about the board challange heck i would vote for them if they came out and said " we see that RB did the dirty work by cutting GTS power and started spending the money to help put the club forward but we dont like him and think hes not a good face for the club so we want to replace him and continue what hes already doing "

The Baker case went straight to the tribunal. The MRP was bypassed. Question was completely irrelevant. My beef with Hutchy was that after ten minutes of Burkey responding in good faith to Hutchys inane qustions, Hutchy then says to Burkey "Now tell us the truth!". A lesser man than Nathan would have snotted him there on the spot.st_Trav_ofWA wrote:i dont think what hutchy said was that low its a fair call about the conflict of intrest

I am on record as supporting the dismissal of GT. My support for SFF has more to do with what happened after that, and what was discovered about the RB/GT relationship that was concealed from the members.

i by no means am calling burkey the bad guy i just think hes been used as a pawn in the lets get rid of RB crew and i find it obscene the way the SFF group keep using him to try and guilt us into voting for them i want the mambers to make a choice on the facts and the issues not because Burkie was a top player and a great bloke
