Must be about time we shouldn't have to travel to Perth twice a year also!
Bad for WA fans (and yes i am one), good for the Saints

Considering our performance this year I believe we should have a pretty god draw, hopefully it can end pretty softly like this year because we usually are the slow starters aren't we...Eastern wrote:We can't get screwed too much because of our 11 home game deal at TD !!

Round 1 Easter Thursday Night at TD v Brisbane might be on the cards however that would mean the season starts a week earlier than this year.Eastern wrote:It has been at least 3 years since we have had a home game to start the season. Remember the AFL are talking about two breaks during the season next year because they want to bring back the state of origin.Solar wrote:Well that is what they are saying about the good friday game. So if they do the two breaks it will not be a problem

Would love to have a few home games at the start of the season. Win the easy ones early and when you peak later in the season the harder ones become a little easier with the confidence and wins gained early

My wish is for 1 game only in Perth and Adelaide only 1 game in either Sydney or Brisbane, Port here, Freo here, less Friday night games and no Sunday twilight games (pain in the arse).
We are the only Victorian club with 11 games at our actual home ground..why give that away?? Our reserved seat and Social Club facilities are compromised there, and for corporate arrangements a one-off homoe game there is a pain.
Invariably it would be against a Club like Essendon, Collingwood or Carlton..who if on a roll will outnumber us for crowd support at OUR home game!!

Imagine if we had played an Elim there, guys like Gilbo had only played at the ground 3 times, and I reckon it makes a big difference.

For some players, maybe. But Gilbo is a dead set gun no matter where he plays. On the other hand, I remember both Clarke's looking completely lost on occasions at the MCG.riccardo wrote:Imagine if we had played an Elim there, guys like Gilbo had only played at the ground 3 times, and I reckon it makes a big difference.
I hate the MCG. But as long as it's the preffered finals venue for the AFL, I would prefer to play as many games there as possible.

Back in the 90s when WCE were "robbed" of a home Prelim Final under the old "MCG one Prelim at the G" rule, the Eagles were up in arms.saint66au wrote:So by your reckoning WCE, Adelaide, Freo et al should ask for MCG home games too???
But Malthouse, their coach at the time, said he was quite happy as it was the best possible preparation fro winning the GF the next week.
I agree with Riccardo, a few more games at the G would be a nice way to prepare ourselves for success in September.
