Problems with our LIST.....

As I said in another post we lack some skill, pace & ftiness to play at the highest level. Over the last 2 yrs we have slipped behind the leaders.

Fitness we can address with a big pre-season. This yr we had our worst pre-season for more than 5 yrs, and it showed....This is the first time for a few yrs we will not be in the finals and can look at a well structured pre-season program for the players, and an early start (like the roos). But the issus of skill & pace are going to be more difficult to address.

Taking players from last night's game, some of these will need to be moved on, and some will need to improve further for us to get back to a top 4 team:

M.Clarke - (past it..)
Voss - (too slow, past it)
Milne - (in-effective for large periods...doesn't have the strengh to hurt opponents in today's running game, he can't sit in the pocket all day)
Gerhig - (one weak brilliant, next weak a liability. No skills and ground level, no forward pressure. not sure he can improve...)
X. Clarke - (Has done ok this yr, but can do a lot more. needs a good pre-season)
R. Clarke - (Got great potential, but needs a solid pre-season & games)
Ball - (50% of the player he was in 04 & 05...needs to get over his OP)
Hayes - (Great effort first yr back from major knee reco, but needs to get back to his explosive best of 05/06. A good pre-season should help that)
Dal - (potential elite, but an inconsistent yr by his standards. Needs to find another gear next yr to reach his best)
Birss - (good back up value, but needs a little more improvement, fitness?)
Goose - (first yr back after major break & was patchy, needs a big pre-season & improve his game)
Kosi - (with a big pre-season needs to impose himself on the game...he is more back up ruck atm)
BLake - (Good value at times...but can he improve further? Is his pace & skill level an issue?)

That's half the team from last night that where some players have the potental & need to improve further, and some that need to be replaced with new talent.

One thing should be clear we DO NOT have a fantastic list, there are deficiencies. Some of these will be overcome with a good pre-season, but some require trading & new players....
