Hugo Garcia
Will be the bargain of the draft
Whoever selected hime (out of the blue) CAN recruit
He is fast, tough, courageous and skilled!
My call
In 3 years will be better than Wilson (who will be good!)
His want to defend without the ball for an 18yo is awesome
Dominates in the VFL

Re: Hugo Garcia
Yep. Not really sure why he is playing in the VFL at the moment.
He's worth several Paddy Dows.

Who did actually find him? Are they still at the club??
Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"

Re: Hugo Garcia
Hope you are right B.M.
Happened to be at his first game against GWS where he got 7 tackles in a quarter and a half. Was up for the fight from game 1 so keen to see him develop.

Agree Garcia in the long run looks to be the better player however.

Re: Hugo Garcia
What is Garcia missing at this point in his career ? Some more muscle & strength, and perhaps a little more composure ?- both are fixable as he spends more time on the list. I haven't watched enough of his VFL games to have a solid opinion just yet - but would you say kicking depth is an issue ?
How high is Wilson's ceiling ? Started the season with a bang and definitely faded, but as he builds stamina , I can see him developing into an Isaac Smith (ex-Hawk/Cat) type player
Both are crucial to the rebuild.

As he builds stamina?
He is the fittest bloke on the list - by some margin
He just needs a spell to work on a few things, nothing more to it

Limping too the line? Do you watch football? The kid just kicked a goal, does some amazing defensive acts week in week out. I can think of a few other players who should be dropped over Wilson.

Re: Hugo Garcia
10 disposals as a wing/HHF
7 of his last 8 games have not been great
Nothing wrong with resting a first year player
Harley Reid has been managed - and he’s WCs best player

Re: Hugo Garcia
It comes down to what can accelerate their development the fastest and/or best.
Pou spent a season in the seniors last year and seemed to progress more with a 5-6 week block in the VFL than the first 10 games of the year.
There'll always be a balance and it's up to the development team to get right.

I haven’t seen much of him. Who would you liken him to?
Also, how did Arie go?

Re Wilson.
It is possible to play games on the wing where you play your role, do a mountain of important work but end up with very few statistics.

1%'s and assist do not count.

Re: Hugo Garcia
Just a question
How many offering opinion actually attend games?
And how many offering opinion rely on TV coverage
The reason I ask is that in my opinion TV coverage does not inform on all aspects of the game because it focusses on the ball
You do not see the positioning including the defensive runs which both advance and disrupt
And you have no knowledge of who is on the pine at any one time
Another matter I would include is that you have greater appreciation of the tactical battle from behind the goals because you are surveying the whole ground

Re: Hugo Garcia
I wouldn't be dropping him but to be fair to B.M, his output has dropped off after about round 11.
Early in the year his name was being thrown up as a rising star smokey, but he hasn't kept that early pace.
Back on topic, I would have liked to see Hugo take on the tagger apprenticeship, especially while Windhager has been out of action.

Re: Hugo Garcia
I rate Wilson, as I did Phillipou last year
But his output suggests he is in need of a rest.
I’d rest him completely- not even a run in the twos

Re: Hugo Garcia
Given it's clear we aren't out to win games, is a rest in the best interest of his career, or should a player push through and use it as motivation to train harder, for longer.
Again up to the development leads on that one.
As long as it's not affecting confidence then I'm good with it.
