Steele's goal from the goal square after a Sharman mark
Go backwards.
Steele got a handpass from Sharman, who had taken a brilliant contested mark.
I think it was Bonner who kicked it to Ccoper.
The ball presumably went in a great trajectory that gave Cooper a good run at it.
There were 2 Saints vs 2 Injectors- 2 one-on-ones going for the mark.
Cooper somehow beat McKay or whoever, even though he seems lighter, thru better judgement and desire.
More often than not, that Bonner kick would be 50/50.
How did Bonner get it so right?
I'm really puzzled

Re: Steele's goal from the goal square after a Sharman mark
Bonner is good depth and he came to us cheaply. Overall he's been a good contributor and a positive when you consider it's helped Sinclair to move into the middle and improve his craft as a midfielder...
plus ...NWM is being encouraged to move up the ground. Bonner stays back with Webster. Nasiah's delivery inside 50 is probably better than everyone else.
In the game against Essendon in Round 3 Nas had zero inside 50's and Bonner had half a dozen. In the match on Saturday, Nas had 4 inside 50s and Bonner had just 2.

Amazing how the rhetoric on Bonner changes with a win.
I havent changed my tune he is good depth but hope guys like Arie go past him with a higher ceiling.

I watched Bonner carefully. his kicks hit mostly their target. Has he improved because of coaching or has the negative comments caused him to lift his game. In any event he is an asset that we got cheaply. I'm pretty happy with him now after a few previous negative comments from me. Regrets? Not really, although he's taught me to be more circumspect in my comments.

I watched the game twice in full, and 'All the Goals' on youtube.
I didn't focus on Bonner at all, but from my memory, he seemed to favour shorter kicks (than his normal) which all found their mark.
Official stats are
15 kicks
7 handballs
Disposal Eff of 86%
Disclaimer: Champion Data are funny with their DE criteria, and assert that an 'effective disposal' is even one that goes to a 50/50 which seems silly

Re: Steele's goal from the goal square after a Sharman mark
All of them look better when they kick long because it is unlikely to result in a quick turnover goal, like a misdirected short kick. If that long kick can be to the advantage of a teammate that's better still. Riley Bonner was third (425) after NWM (620) and Cooper Sharman (428) for metres gained.

Bonner did a few good things on Saturday, and he may be taking a little longer than some kids but even Owens still needs improving in some areas.
I was shocked to see the knives come out, but noted in this case know-one could find an excuse to throw a knife at Wilson for a change.
