Covering Injuries
On Saturday we ran out without 4 of our starting 6 forwards. Can anyone think of a side that cover three of their top goal scorers from the previous season in one hit?
Our injuries were always going to hurt us as the season went on. Yes you can win a game here or there as lesser likes can hold on for a few games but long term it gets you.

Re: Covering Injuries
I do believe that out fall from form is partly due to our injuries catching up with us.
We haven't fielded our best team all year, in fact, nowhere near our best team.

Correct. I believe that our best team has Hayes forward rotating with Marshall.

Re: Covering Injuries
At the moment yes though I would rather Heath evolve into that ruckman with Hayes as a permanent forward.CURLY wrote: ↑Mon 17 Jul 2023 12:24pmBruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Mon 17 Jul 2023 12:20pm I do believe that out fall from form is partly due to our injuries catching up with us.

Re: Covering Injuries
Yes, we got smashed in the midfield because of our missing forwards…
I suppose when you can’t blame the umps or the draw or the weather or the break you have to go to the next excuse!

Re: Covering Injuries
Slow start didn’t help. I think we kicked 8 goals after quarter time. The same as the GC I think. I guess that’s something.

Re: Covering Injuries
Oh look the answer to the question that no one asked.
Any moron that doesn't think our season hasn't been majorly disrupted by injuries is either taking the piss or has no idea. We know which you are.

Re: Covering Injuries
Campbell is not the answer & we cannot keep coming on here after matches bemoaning the fact RoMa has got smashed at CBs (again), stating he needs more help than Owens or Caminiti can offer.
I believe the "Heath is miles off" was also said about Peris. Peris has a way to go but now knows what is required and the leap to AFL is no longer a mystery.
It is amazing how well a player can do when surrounded by better players. Heath may be out of his league but will quickly learn what's required, given a crack at it can only benefit the kid long term.

Re: Covering Injuries
You’re always making excuses and playing the victim.
If any players/coaches at the club share that losers mentality then they should be moved on at the first opportunity.
The 22/23 picked each week have underperformed and should have won more games than they have, simple.
We beat GC by 9 goals earlier in the year with a worse team on paper. That’s a 13 goal turnaround.
But keep shifting the blame, I can’t wait to see what next weeks excuse will be!

Yes keep displaying your lack of knowledge. Actually keep playing the argumentative negative moron.
If you generally believe the old no matter what 22/23 you put out there it shouldn't matter just move on as you have no idea.

Re: Covering Injuries
I'd play Heath at FF.
He just has to kick a goal or two per match until King returns. He's younger than King (more than 2 years younger ) - there's potential there.
How many was King kicking?
And when King returns, I think he'd (i.e. King'd) be more value at half back - we need a tall player who can take intercept marks?
He'd probably start averaging 20 possessions per game as a defender.
King tries to go one-on-one most of the time, instead of leading and using his athleticism, and he's being outmarked by 190cm defenders.
Lyon doesn't know how to Maximise his potential (and King is not playing like a natural forward).
Some lateral thinking (year of discovery - really??).
