Re: Coaches Votes Round 6 v Blues
Love the fact that coaches recognised that although they had 38, 36, 29, and 28 possessions, Sam Walsh, Blake Acres, George Hewitt, and Nick Newman had no impact on the game.
They decided that a guy that was struggling in the first half and was moved to the middle of the ground to have a massive impact with his 27 possessions deserved a unanimous BOG.

Re: Coaches Votes Round 6 v Blues
Still surprises me how few votes Seb collects from SS posters. Nah, not really.

The doubters are happy Seb is proving us right.
Same player, better team, less votes.
You really like dying a a slow slow death on some points, don't you.

I would've had Seb replace Butler.
Maybe Buts had more pressure acts?

watch the video "all the goals" ... and you will see how many goals Butler was directly involved in (as well as the 3 he kicked himself)WellardSaint wrote: ↑Tue 25 Apr 2023 1:19pm I would've had Seb replace Butler.

Taking nothing away from Seb who was fantastic, but Butler had a great game

Seb is great when he’s the 3rd-4th banana, and so he should be.
When he has to be 1st or 2nd you’re going to be in strife.

All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.

Hard for some so called fans to give Seb the praise he so richly deserves. Pathetic really.
But been going on for years so not unexpected. Seb continues to show up the nuff nuffs for their lack of footy knowledge

Re: Coaches Votes Round 6 v Blues
Who exactly are these doubters B.M.?
The ones who prefer a team result to a B&F vote or Coaches vote? Or are they the ones still scratching their heads why RoMa missed out on a B&F because the voting was geared more towards games played than actual influence?
Perhaps they are the ones who enjoy the impact kids have on the contest, the result & the older guard?
Who are these doubters?

Re: Coaches Votes Round 6 v Blues
Your little rant about Seb not deserving the 2019 B&F (his second!) is a little indicator of how you view his career
Like by so many supporters - he is underrated - the most underrated Saints player in my memory
He’s been good in a good team, he’s been good in a bad team
Fact is, he’s just been good - for about 8 seasons
BTW
2019
Both players played pretty much every game
Seb was more consistent- and voted best by the 4 coaches - who have forgotten more about footy than we will ever know!
And as for impact from the umpires POV
Ross 14 Brownlow votes
Marshall 7 votes
Face it
He has detractors- who most of the time look stupid

Did they play the same amount of games B.M. or did Seb play more?B.M wrote: ↑Tue 25 Apr 2023 9:18pm Your little rant about Seb not deserving the 2019 B&F (his second!) is a little indicator of how you view his career

If you wish to quote me, then you could quote my votes this round where I gave him one more vote than one of the coaches did.
He's your man crush, not mine. I simply want a team to win a premiership not another individual award to savour.

Re: Coaches Votes Round 6 v Blues
Do you think Seb plays for individual accolades?
He’s a selfless, humble, reliable and professional footballer
And I respect that
He has contributed in good and bad times. He is not a Lenny Hayes or Nick Reiwoldt but he’s had a very good career in the RWB
You don’t win B&Fs if you can’t play
We do need someone to blame for the 2013-2019 seasons though
So the coach and best player of the time are two to scapegoat I suppose?!
Actually thinking about it
The persons I blame are
Chris Pelchen
Tony Elshaug
And about 40 s*** players we had during that time

Keeping it warm till Bytel accumulates more at the top level
Ross won’t play in our next premiership side imo

Re: Coaches Votes Round 6 v Blues
Ross is a valuable running player - is very quick and has endurance. And we are a team of runners, that's our point of difference.
He'd be one of the first picked each week.
If we make the GF over the next couple of years, he'll be in it (and he'd be a big reason for us making it into one).
And Bytel is more your Crouch type.
Hopefully Bytel gets to carve out a career as successful as either of them.

Re: Coaches Votes Round 6 v Blues
Nah, he has been solid.
Steele, Wilkie Marshall and Sinclair have been better than solid.
Similarly, Mason Wood has gone to another level and is now solid.
These are all experienced players. It just what is expected really.
Ross is good AFL player and an outstanding athlete. He can play anywhere.
