First half of 2022 attendances

Post: # 1983282Post Sainternist »

I think it’s a safe bet to say most of us were sucked into thinking we were going to see some action in September this year, given our 8-3 record by the halfway point of the season.

Attendances were pretty darn pathetic for our home games. It really paled in comparison to previous years where the team showed that sort of promise.

Sure, there were factors like covid, disillusionment towards the AFL, people being lulled into staying at home with all that great technology we now take for granted, etc; but it still seemed uncharacteristic for the St.Kilda supporters not to rally and turn up in droves. Can anyone think of other reasons behind this?

If it should happen again, I think the club needs to make more of a concerted effort to get more supporters to show up. Not only does it help the club to have decent attendances, but it also gives the team an extra spring in its step to play in front of bigger crowds. Okay, I’m probably stating the obvious here, but it was really disappointing to see attendances down when the team was actually playing well.

Happy Tuesday, folks!

Game timeslots were awful for families. Not a single day game after Round 11.

I've had a good whinge on this forum and I even had a good whinge to the club !
I'm a lazy bastard , I get my membership and seat sorted at the start of the year and then I don't have to think about it . I'm not a fan of the new process and I know 3 people who didn't renew their membership because of it . 2 of them were members since the early 80s .
By the end of the season , I just couldn't be arsed .
Lots of smart people making huge dollars working for the AFL , I'd love one of them to explain to me why after the covid lock down they didn't go back to the ticketing system that everybody was used to and was simple and easy .

Yep, and also as someone mentioned above: hope that the AFL doesn’t shaft us with a lousy home games schedule for the supporters.
