Marcus Windhager - The Role Player
Seriously, take a bow son.
That is how you do it.
Calling it now - future captain. Kid has looked like he belonged since he walked through the door and even the games where he was dropped, his worst was still ok.
To last night however
He went to the opposition’s best mid… the Brownlow favourite.
Kept him to 16 odd touches… about half of what he got against us last time. He weathered the attacks of the Brisbane mongrels that tried to rough him up and hit him hard…
Flew the flag at every opportunity to win us the game and create opportunities/take it on.
Won a bucketload of ball himself.
Seriously… he is the prototype of the modern player.
Came in already super fit and almost instantly up to par
Leads the way and takes the game on
None of this… only there to just guard space or just tagging is enough.
Love this kid. Pbly the most impressive junior we’ve had in an age

Tough kid both physically and mentally. Won the matchup on Neale decisively and made Zorko look weak.
Not "Simon Templar". He was here first. Please change my username to Bumstead and if possible make me one of those very large sandwiches, thanks!

Re: Marcus Windhager - The Role Player
I'm a bit wary of calling players a future captain.
It was a phrase used often about Dunstan when he first played for the Saints.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Fair call…
Let’s called it a bit of colour to emphasise a point

Re: Marcus Windhager - The Role Player
It's been so long since we had a couple of guys come in and be able to match it with men immediately (and can actually play). Windhager is tough and Owens is the strongest 18 year old I've seen pull on a Saints jumper.

Re: Marcus Windhager - The Role Player
The best thing to happen in 2022.
Not many positives, but he’s #1.
Will he be a superstar? Unlikely, but he could be an A-grader if he keeps this up.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

Should we give some credit to Dal for Windy’s and Owen’s development

Both natural footballers, but yes.66Iwasthere wrote: ↑Sat 13 Aug 2022 1:32pm Should we give some credit to Dal for Windy’s and Owen’s development
And I thought that the cats were dirty mongrel dogs. Lions just pip them.

Re: Marcus Windhager - The Role Player
If he shuts down their best and picks up 20+ himself, it's a good learning ground.
You could see just how concerned Brisbane were about him. Strength, pace and skill at 19 years old.

Re: Marcus Windhager - The Role Player
Legitimate concern, but he seems to be good enough to shut someone down and cause damage the other way.

Re: Marcus Windhager - The Role Player
He's got a similar swagger hasn't he.
Agree though, we shouldn't be pumping him up to captain just yet, the last kid we did that to is playing reserves at Melbourne.
And also agree he's not just a negative tagging type. We need the offensive ball winners more than we need taggers. Any spud can be turned into a tagger

Then there is obvious a role for you down at Moorabbin.Vortex wrote: ↑Sun 14 Aug 2022 9:45amHe's got a similar swagger hasn't he.

Better call in Lloyd. He is the only one that can fix this. Plus he will do live video conferencing. Works on any television.

Re: Marcus Windhager - The Role Player
Remember this is how Steele learnt his trade. Chase good players around , learn running patterns , how to lose players in traffic etc. 2 years time moves form tagger to key mid. Can only hope
