Re: MMM reporting Paddy is done
At his age its always the risk unfortunately.
Our season is done anyway so though not good for him personally it really has little impact in the greater scheme of things.

Re: MMM reporting Paddy is done
Could we offer him a contract on base money plus match payments as a part time player and ruck coach?
If he played 10 games and coached would be ok, don't know if there's a better offer around.
Gotta be better than pick 89 in next years draft.

Re: MMM reporting Paddy is done
Well let’s be honest, he went from jumping over the top of every ruckman to the league in the first half of the season, to having Tim English jump over the top of him.
That says there is something wrong and sadly at his age, that’s probably that

Re: MMM reporting Paddy is done
I noticed that too, he hasn't been dominating the tap-outs like he did earlier in the year but the thing that got me after Paddy went off in the 3rd quarter is the way Rowan Marshall took up the challenge and was a major factor in the belated fight back in last quarter. From memory I think Marshall has played much better football before when he's #1 ruckman which is perhaps understandable - far better to be 1st fiddle in the orchestra. I also rate his leadership.
If the season is gone rather than bring in Campbell I'd rather blood young Max Heath if he's available. Yes, there have been reports suggesting Heath is a long way off but there's nothing wrong with throwing him in at the deep end, see what he can do - he's a big boy and there's no better way to learn than by playing on the big stage.

Heath is a long way off. Campbell should get a game as he is really working hard at Sandy, and maybe some of the senior players could look at his work rate. I sensed Paddy also seemed to drop in intensity when he returned after being rubbed out earlier in the season, let alone leg injury.

He would not last a quarter against an AFL ruck.
He has signs of promise but it would be ridiculous to play him

But the season isn't gone and we've a;lready won 9 games.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Mon 18 Jul 2022 6:01pmI noticed that too, he hasn't been dominating the tap-outs like he did earlier in the year but the thing that got me after Paddy went off in the 3rd quarter is the way Rowan Marshall took up the challenge and was a major factor in the belated fight back in last quarter. We'll probably win the next two games and then it's game on again.
Campbell has been playing better than Heath so Campbell should come in if we are going to play two ruckmen. I want us to try to win games, not play guys who are no where near ready.
Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

Paddy should go around next year. Even as a specialist forward

Re: MMM reporting Paddy is done
If he's offered a new contract should be on minimum money and in a coaching / player role . Great to have around the club But his body is showing its age .

Re: MMM reporting Paddy is done
I agree, has to be on an old fashioned/match payments type contract
If he plays on, we have to use him as a good footballer and don't risk losing him at all for the year. No point signing him on and relying on him to be first ruck at his age.
Jack Hayes and Roma to ruck around the ground and Paddy exclusively playing FF and only* rucking close to goal
*If it's a boundary throw in around the 50 metre line or if it's outside the 50 metre arc, then Roma or Hayes take it and Paddy stays deep in the forward line or in the goal square

Re: MMM reporting Paddy is done
Ryder much prefers playing in the ruck than exclusively playing as a forward
And he’s an average forward to begin with
I’d lose Ryder
Marshall first ruck
Hayes FF/Ruck
King CHF
Higgins/Gresham small forward
Billings and Membrey HHFs
DeGoey is a MUST IMO

We will miss his footy smarts. Such a clever player.
Only others I can think of straight up in our side are Wilkie and Clark. DMac?
Windhager and NWM show signs.
