Ziebell Hit on McKenzie
High contact in full view of everyone at the ground yet the umpire somehow missed it.
What was he watching?
Why was it ignored as the force was of the extreme end.

Re: Ziebell Hit on McKenzie
The commentators were saying he hit the ball first so was ok, but that's not a rule is it? Head contact is head contact I thought?

Re: Ziebell Hit on McKenzie
Terrible decision not to pay a free kick.
Ziebell is a grub, too!
I'm trying to think of a more mediocre player to have played 250 games. It's not coming to me.

Was Ziebell the one that took that cheap shot at Roo years back that was really dangerous?

Completely different but a clown may raise that mark rather than admit it was a mistake.The_Dud wrote: ↑Mon 30 May 2022 4:55pmIt's only ok if you knock them outCURLY wrote: ↑Mon 30 May 2022 9:45amOf course it's not a rule.SaintJohno wrote: ↑Mon 30 May 2022 9:44am The commentators were saying he hit the ball first so was ok, but that's not a rule is it? In one the guy in the Saints jumper did the hitting, and in the other the guy in the Saints jumper got hit.

Pretty much an old fashioned coat-hanger...somehow the commentators tried to make a case for it being play on

Re: Ziebell Hit on McKenzie
One bloke had his head punch off the other made contact with a player coming the other way with the ball. Re: Ziebell Hit on McKenzie
A huge difference between a defender wildly swinging an arm at the ball and a forward who attacks the ball and doesn’t even see the defender coming the other way.The_Dud wrote: ↑Mon 30 May 2022 5:31pmOf course its completely different!CURLY wrote: ↑Mon 30 May 2022 5:07pmCompletely different but a clown may raise that mark rather than admit it was a mistake.The_Dud wrote: ↑Mon 30 May 2022 4:55pmIt's only ok if you knock them outCURLY wrote: ↑Mon 30 May 2022 9:45amOf course it's not a rule.SaintJohno wrote: ↑Mon 30 May 2022 9:44am The commentators were saying he hit the ball first so was ok, but that's not a rule is it? If you want to compare Harry Taylor being knocked out, look at the Higgins concussion.

Re: Ziebell Hit on McKenzie
That's from 13 years ago times have changed, there was less head protection no concussion rule and was a marking contest, rather than a late spoil that missed the ball (probably had no intention of hitting the ball).

Re: Ziebell Hit on McKenzie
Damn, the Saints had a fantastic team at that time.
How did they not win the premiership ?
Star studded, would slaughter every team easily today.

Re: Ziebell Hit on McKenzie
Not sure if they played 250 but Bryce Squibbs and Andrew Swallow spring to mind. Swallow in particular a non entity as a captain. I used to call him Claude Rains. After the actor who played The Invisible Man. Add Heppell too tho thankfully he’s just done 200. Just no impact on any games ever!Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Mon 30 May 2022 12:46pm Terrible decision not to pay a free kick.

Re: Ziebell Hit on McKenzie
Gibbs played 268. 231 of them with Carlton and 37 irrelevant games for the Crows. His nomination is outstanding when you consider he was a number 1 draft pick.stevie wrote: ↑Tue 31 May 2022 7:41amNot sure if they played 250 but Bryce Squibbs and Andrew Swallow spring to mind. Swallow only played 224.
