Get on your bike recruiters

Post: # 1949499Post CURLY »

So much talent slips through the TAC Cup system its mind blowing. Kids get overlooked or turned off to to ongoing bias and basically a grab for cash from the TAC Cup teams. As a result so much talent is running around at local levels. Get out there recruiters and dig up these diamonds the rewards will be worth it.

There's plenty of kids playing local footy equal if not better than plenty of kids on Tac lists.

Quick google search shows there are 641 listed TAC cup players across 12 teams.
Not inclusive of lower age sides.
Search also shows on average 45 kids are drafted from the TAC cup each year.
So loosely 7% of TAC cup players are drafted each year.

There well maybe kids outside the TAC cup as good or better than some playing in the competition.
But are the AFL clubs missing out on draftable talent? Probably not.
I doubt any of these guys listed are top 7% of the TAC comp or they'd be playing in it.

If they are good enough and have the heart and commitment they'll get their shot.
Just look at Jack Hayes, Tom Stewart, Nick Martin, James Gwilt, etc there are plenty who make it via more obscure pathways.

And again with the term bias Curly.
What is your obsession with bias?
The AFL, the TAC cup, the Umpires are all biased against someone you know or support.
Why the persecution complex?

Is this the Tom Taylor you refer to?
Looks like he had a fair shot as an over age player in the TAC cup...

Was in the best first 3 weeks got told he didn’t fit the team set up and sent home.

If you don’t think there’s bias the having 11 players from one team and 7 from another isn’t a bias what is? That’s at Eastern majority are at a school Darren Berwick is involved in. That’s biased selection.

The TAC clubs get to see all aspects of players and its in their clubs interest to have kids drafted into the AFL. So I doubt there would be many kids slip through their net if they have the tools to make it. Plus as DB suggested their are other avenues if they are committed.

Nothing is perfect mate. I suggest if you are that invested in other junior football, to get n touch with the clubs recruiting team and volunteer to start sending some footage in of the other kids they should be looking at.

Let me understand this.

Eastern Ranges
30 years in the competition
130+ draftees at 4.5 average plus per year
2 x premierships
4 x runners up
Multiple #1 draft picks
Arguably the best player in the game (Petracca)
10 current coaches
Support staff of 12

Don't recruit kids unless they are at a school that FORMER coach Darren Bewick is involved in and this is because of bias.
This team of people are biased and don't select kids that a guy on an internet forum knows are better than those playing.

So umpires are biased, the AFL is biased, the Eastern Ranges are biased. etc...
Is there a pattern forming here Curly?
BTW, did you even know Bewick wasn't coach anymore?

18 kids from two teams. Let that sink in while only one from an entire League got in.

Yep, you know more than the 22 staff at Eastern Ranges that have guided 130 odd players into the AFL.

Must be a high standard league when you can only get one guy in the squad.
Is there a rule where they have to take one from each league?

Lucky you are there to point out the bias.
