Looking at AFL Tables, since 1974 we have beaten them only 24 times in 48 seasons, while they have beaten us 50 times, and there has been one draw in that time.
20 of those 50 Hawthorn wins were an unbeaten run of outs for us between 1979-1989. I remember us thrashing them in 1978 and 1979 at VFL Park and Moorabbin. I would have enjoyed them more if I knew that we wouldn't beat them again until 1990!
They hold a slight winning advantage overall against us since 1925 - 82 wins/76 losses - with 2 draws.
IF we beat them in Round 20 at Home at Marvel, it will be the first time since 1992 we have beaten them twice in one season. 30 years! It would also be the first time since 1969 we have beaten them 5 times in a row (we beat them seven times in a row during that run).
I am really hoping that we can recreate a bit of history in Round 20!

I bought a membership card.
After the topsy turvy 1978 season.
Three weeks later I went to Vic Park all hopeful....
