More rubbish reporting bagging the club!!
How is our list management any different to all the other clubs? Every club wants picks at the draft each year - surely we need some list balance and the ability to fill some holes at the draft?
How can these pair of idiots bag the club on not continuing to trade ready made players, whats confusing about that?

How dare the knobs at Fox Footy bag our club!
They have stepped into the domain of Saintsational forum posters!
Seriously, how does David King keep on Fox's payroll? Obviously doesn't rate Hunter Clark and overlooks the fact he was nearly beheaded in Cairns and pretty well missed the second half of the season.

David King is paid to talk out of his chute, and he excels at it.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: More rubbish reporting bagging the club!!
We've had two years of solid trading that has been mostly successful. We are due a down year.
Brad Hill has not been as good as hoped but still managed a top 10 finish - let's see what he does next year.
We managed to retain our FRDP this year which is a good effort given how many we brought in.
Not sure what the Fox Footy brains trust expect us to do.
We also have a good chance to get Bing next year, which would be a huge coup.
FRDP, 3 x NGA might be our best bet.

Re: More rubbish reporting bagging the club!!
Last two trade periods plus mid season draft tells me we have done OK, 9-10 first choice players (Wood as a pretty handy depth forward)
Highmore........Howard
Hill .................Crouch .........Jones
Butler ................................... Higgins
Sharman .................................Wood
Ryder,

Re: More rubbish reporting bagging the club!!
Been saying it since it become apparent early in the 2021 season, our list build is in a delicate and vulnerable position.
Have some incredible luck with injury and we are capable of returning to the 8. However luck is what we will need the most unless the recruiters can pull a rabbit out of the hat.
We are short two spine players and depth of quality through the midfield.
A fascinating trade period coming up

Re: More rubbish reporting bagging the club!!
Expected better from Leigh. Others are typical footy media beat up fools.
Silly to waste time on their gibberish but its lockdown. Ok argue Saints need to trade, what for who. Can't offer credible suggestions then be quiet.
The way for us to get a big defender is through the draft. There are none available in the trade category and we don't have a lot of idle assets anymore.
I wonder if they flip a coin, laugh and decide what angle to take on a particular club because you could use the same material and paint a really positive picture.
Surprised that King (no relative I hope) didn't reveal there is a rumour on the Saints forum that Wilkie was available. That would have got at least 18 clicks from recruiting managers. 17 hopefully salivating and one saying what bs is this.

Re: More rubbish reporting bagging the club!!
This is the level of analysis from Ralph...
“Now I think Jack Newnes is probably as good a wingman, given current form, as Brad Hill – and he’s $700,000 cheaper. I think Luke Dunstan’s probably a very similar player to Brad Crouch … $450,000 cheaper."
Neither Newnes nor Dunstan can reliably hit the side of a house from 30m. Newnes was in and out of the Carlton team all season and comparing him to Brad Hill just shows a lack of football knowledge.
Ralphy might be a good news breaker but he's no list analyst.
I know that Fox Footy are obligated to provide some live content, but they really need to make it worthwhile.

It's called baiting. The thing that annoys me the most about it is Journo's like Ralphy get paid really well to do it...professionally baiting that is. Imagine if SS posters got paid for baiting.Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Wed 06 Oct 2021 7:38am This is the level of analysis from Ralph...

Re: More rubbish reporting bagging the club!!
The fox panel are 100% here.
Fine, we are not doing any trading, yet we don’t really have any picks apart from 9, so at the moment the draft is also a non event for us.
That is why our tactics appear confusing, we are not in either game (draft or trade)
I said this weeks ago, we need to at least do some trades to get picks (not players). Picks give us some leverage
Another poster said we need to draft a KD, well when we only effectively have one pick of value that is hard or lucky.
However if we could finish up with say 9 and two more under 30, then we are in the draft game

The game is more than one trade/draft period long. It doesn't take a genius to work out what St Kilda are working towards.terry smith rules wrote: ↑Wed 06 Oct 2021 9:51am The fox panel are 100% here.

St Kilda needs to sell for draft points but due to salary cap limitations no-one is buying.Beno88 wrote: ↑Wed 06 Oct 2021 9:54amThe game is more than one trade/draft period long. Most clubs have back ended some contracts just to get through these 2 covid seasons.
They have no space for imports.

Re: More rubbish reporting bagging the club!!
If true then the club has officially lost the plot...just would be farking insane to put a a whole club on hold for a player you may not land and will cost the club more than an insane amount of money if they can prize him out of the GC.terry smith rules wrote: ↑Wed 06 Oct 2021 10:01amWow so we are putting all our eggs in the Ben King basket. Having said that I think what is really in play is 2 effected COVID seasons and reduced trade traffic is the result due to limited stock and limited budgets.
But you won't get the media reporting on that because they are under strict guidance to make things look normal.

That's a good response Ben088, exactly what I thought when I watched Ralph & Co sprouting this nonsense last night - the only comment I agreed with when they analysed St Kilda in this trade period was Joey stating that the Saints need a young ruckman to play alongside Marshall, but we knew that!Beno88 wrote: ↑Wed 06 Oct 2021 8:10amIt works this way too....Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Wed 06 Oct 2021 7:38am This is the level of analysis from Ralph...

What all these so called experts failed to mention when they rated St Kilda's 2021 season a "fail" was that the team had their season torpedoed right from the start with injuries to some key players, 2 season-ending, plus Paddy Ryder's unavailability for many games - no team would have recovered from that, and finishing 10th was therefore not a bad effort.

Re: More rubbish reporting bagging the club!!
Yep I agree with you 100%. It is indeed a rubbish report with no mention of our rotten luck with injuries preventing us from fielding our best side. Coupled with the worst draw in the league and our poor preseason, we were never really a chance, and yet with a bit of luck and fairer umpiring, we still could have slipped into the finals.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Tue 05 Oct 2021 8:25pm How is our list management any different to all the other clubs? I believe we are closer than these guys think or want to believe.
We all know that these guys get off on good trade stories. Sorry that the Saints have given them nothing to wank to.....not.

Re: More rubbish reporting bagging the club!!
You don't just trade for the sake of trading. Especially in a compromised environment.
Our list is good, but there are a couple of holes to fill.
Do you jump now and fill a hole with an average player, or do you play it smart, wait, and potentially land the best import this club will have seen since Fraser Gehrig?
At the end of the day, the club has a better idea than any of us.
