Power interested in Billings & Dunstan
https://www.zerohanger.com/afl-trade-ne ... xDSZB2-_dc
Obviously Power will retire a couple at seasons end, so they must believe they have the cap room? I dont know about letting players go to a competitor like Port and making them stronger?

I hate us getting stitched on players.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Power interested in Billings & Dunstan
Dunstan unrestricted FA so we get whatever compensation - likely 2nd or 3rd rounder
Billings - Port's 1st rounder - so probably pick 15 to 18 or even 20 with Daicos & Darcy being father-son picks
Anyone happy with that?

Re: Power interested in Billings & Dunstan
I’d take that 1st rounder for Billings and a second for Dunstan yep
Use that 1st rounder and next years for Bing (Ross may also need to be involved with something back as they need experienced players)
Draft mid with our 1st Rd pick this year (possible top 5)
Best available with second
Gresham plays Billings HFF role next year
Bytel fast tracked
Would we look at M Crouch if Dunstan walked or too old?

Re: Power interested in Billings & Dunstan
No
Two established players for a couple of kids who may or may not even make it
If Dunstan compensation netted us Matt Crouch
And the pick we receive for Billings is used as our first selection
And our first selection + Battle and a future first rounder for Ben King and a future second
I’d do it
Doubt that will occur though

I guess Billings worth will be decided by the market, that is if he leaves. If he is as great as you think, please state what is the compensation we can expect. We can benchmark that then and make a comparison when the deal is done. Did you get it right or did you get it wrong?B.M wrote: ↑Sun 18 Jul 2021 11:35pm No

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Re: Power interested in Billings & Dunstan
"Raised as possibilities" as a final comment in a sea of speculation article. Can't get more certain than that.
Could ask why a team in top 4 that has beaten us twice convincingly would be chasing a couple of our second tier players when it reportedly has a war chest - who would they replace, noting Gray comes back next year and Duursma is lurking and we can't make the 8, or possibly the first dozen.
Jack and Luke will be with us next year - Jack on a little less but a longish contract; Luke on more than now and a couple of years. The Club and Melbourne suit them.
They suit us pretty much too, and haven't we all got accustomed to their faces? Who else but Ratts is going to love them as regulars, they don't have too many extraordinary skills, a couple of slightly above average players with faults and limited finals experience, like us all. But what you see is what you get with them. Jack good disposal, positioning and the occasional contested mark, Luke would die in the trenches for the team. If nothing else they can teach those qualities to the developing younger guys.
Yours sentimentally; Amateur recruiter boy.

Re: Power interested in Billings & Dunstan
Funny when you compare Billings this year to Bradley Hill in 2019 the year before he came to the Saints - Billings about to turn 26 and Hill just turned 26 ( so same age)
Billings per game averaging 21 disposals 7 marks 2 tackles 1 goal (supposedly carrying an injury)
Hill (in 2019) per game averaging 25 disposals 4 marks 2 tackles 0.25 goals
The Hill trade was draft picks 10 and 58, a 2020 second round pick and the Saints' Blake Acres traded to the Dockers in return for Hill and a 2020 third round pick.
Billings?? - is it too cheeky to ask for a top 10 pick given what we gave up for Hill?
Keeping in mind I guess Hill was contracted whereas Billings is RFA

I’d go full Dodoro cheeky but stats don’t tell the full impact storyDevilhead wrote: ↑Mon 19 Jul 2021 12:16am Funny when you compare Billings this year to Bradley Hill in 2019 the year before he came to the Saints - Billings about to turn 26 and Hill just turned 26 ( so same age)

One might argue Hill has at least reached elite status in his preferred wing role in AFL and shown he can play at that level
I don’t think Billings ever has other than the odd great game tbh and clubs know it
Still.....start high by all means!

I feel like every time we trade these players in it costs an arm and a leg... and when they leave, they’re not worth that much.Devilhead wrote: ↑Mon 19 Jul 2021 12:16am Funny when you compare Billings this year to Bradley Hill in 2019 the year before he came to the Saints - Billings about to turn 26 and Hill just turned 26 ( so same age)

Re: Power interested in Billings & Dunstan
I doubt Port would want both Billings and Dunstan, they are both hot and cold players, they may try for one of them though.
Bing is contracted to the Suns for 2022, he won't be going to the Saints before his contract expires, everyone seems to to think Gold Coast will just roll over, i don't.
We will need a couple of first round picks, minimum, to get the Suns to the table at the end of 2022, even then i don't like our chances, not
with Essendon, desperate for a Key Forward, and other Victorian clubs wanting Bing as well.
Has Bing ever said he wants to play in the same team as Max during his AFL career ?

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
