Mindset of other Clubs

Post: # 1914692Post CURLY »

When you know you can stretch the rules without infringing it’s far easier to defend. McKenzie giving up 12cm on King somehow did not infringe for a whole game. Constantly pushing him with both hands or just swinging round arms taking arms and at times head.
Membrey just got barreled constantly no free.
Butler dragged down chasing a loose ball into a open goal. Umpire allows it sapping scoring chances.

Our defenders play in front and make the slightest of contact and it’s a free.

How many times did Steele Jones or Crouch just get tackled to the ground before they got the ball. It’s a disgrace and clearly Fisher is part of the problem.

Whilst I don't agree that umpiring can cost the game - you should be good enough to beat the frees given against you - I do agree that it is the ones not paid that can affect a mindset - King, with the frees paid against our defenders, not only in this game but others as well, would be up there with GeorgiaDees.

You truly take obsession to a whole new level Curly.
What’s most telling about it is your complete and utter absence of self reflection.
It’s always, and only, that the umpires / AFL are out to get us.

I thought Trent McKenzie did a pretty good job on Max King, quite often out-positioned King to take a relieving mark - he's an experienced defender and knows how close he can play to the edge without infringing.

There's no point blaming poor umpiring, it's an inexact science, sometimes they get it wrong and it mostly cuts both ways - walk in their shoes and see how you go!

Where your theory falls apart curly, is you seem to think every other club is aware of this loophole and get dodgy frees every week against us, yet you can never acknowledge that a free should have been paid against the saints. Example being the butler ‘handball’ over his shoulder, everyone who has played or watched football knows that is a throw, but you just say pendlebury does it all the time and it’s allowed. So it is either a conspiracy against us or something that we also do but not as well?

When has Saintsaitional ever been a forum about self reflection? Self reflection is a private endeavour.

Saintsaitional is forum for venting but some posters are just like a dog with a bone and just don’t know when to quit but he’s not the only one on here and at least he started a separate thread on it.

Does King get mauled and is he protected by the umpires?
I think it’s a fair question.

It’s interesting that last year on occasions when we had to travel on game-day certain sections on here carried on like pork chops saying it wasn’t fair and the AFL were cheating against us as it’s an unfair disadvantage that gives you almost no chance of winning, yet Port did it today pretty comfortably.

Almost like that (and this) carry on is baseless.

Didn’t say it shouldn’t have been paid a free I simply commented that they allow the old over head handball. Flicked the WB v GC game on and Bont let go a ripper. All called throw other than the umpires.

Are you comparing the two hour plus bus trip from Noosa to the Gabba to the 20 minutes from Tullamarine to Etihad?

So that argument could be made for every free kick that you complain about being paid or not paid couldn’t it? Decisions are made by human beings and sometimes they are missed or paid in error. Where it gets frustrating in a game thread is where you point out everything you think is wrong (when the saints are penalized or disadvantaged) but rationalize anyone that goes to the saints advantage as being what other teams get so it’s fine.

No I rationalised one decision that went our way one no other free we got away with was discussed. On the flip side two marks directly in front should have been awardees weren’t discussed. Also Butler being tackled by Alir as he ran down a loose ball 20 out was left alone.

Ok, clearly it is not something that has started this game and you are committed to your stance now so I am not going to bother going back and forth on this. I hope that you can actually enjoy watching footy at some point, as I can’t see how you can now (regardless of results).

Until we get a decent consistent run like WB I will call it out.
