I just realised.
If that crow lice forward hadn't kicked the football out of his arse over his head, we would now be in 8th place

Re: I just realised.
We've blown 2 or 3 games this season, hard to believe those wins would have us almost entrenched in the top 8. But those horrendous drubbings made me feel like we had dropped to a bottom 4 team.
A strange and frustrating season.

..and its not over ...yet!
I confess to having absolutely no idea about how the Collingwood game would pan out.

Re: I just realised.
What about when Howard gave away a goal in the same quarter because - as the umpire explained - “You tried to prevent him from marking.”
F—- me, that’s what defenders do.

I suggest he meant illegally, by holding
That Goal will end up being crucial in the wash up
Which is why I was livid about it - it should never have happened at a D50 stoppage - a player having 10m on his opponent

Re: I just realised.
Yep but really reducing a 36 point lead down to 1 final moment is just dumb
What about the other 5 goals we just let them pile on???
“Yeah….nah””

Re: I just realised.
We had better forget the Adelaide loss..it didn’t happen. Worse than Freo and North losses last year. Just pretend we don’t lose games like that. It’s the past. It will never happen again. Ever. So forget it.
But we lack power. Mr Saintman St Kilda TV man said our players ran 40km less in total according to GOS in the last quarter. We were out of petrol. I asked earlier today about whether fitness can improve.. the answer is a categorical no at this stage of the season.
But who cares? If intensity, experience, good instincts and a bit of luck get us up by ten and we still manage to scrape home, it is 100% better than what Collingwood did.
Just don’t mention the Adeliade game.

Agree, but it doesn’t make the decision any more correct.Teflon wrote: ↑Tue 06 Jul 2021 12:37amYep but really reducing a 36 point lead down to 1 final moment is just dumb

Re: I just realised.
Make no mistake about it, we are a long way off it this season, the game against the Pies perfectly illustrates our season, switched on one moment, giving up the next.
Watch the absolute train wreck against the Dogs again to remind yourself how serious our issues are. We gave up against the Dogs and whatever the reason it still lingers, and if you disagree then watch the 4th quarter against the Pies. It comes from nowhere and it happens in an instant.
I will be shocked if we don't get smashed by the Lions.
I won't be surprised if we beat the Lions.
That's how confusing the situation is.

Going on recent history against good teams, I think we’ll most likely get smashed.Vortex wrote: ↑Tue 06 Jul 2021 7:53am Make no mistake about it, we are a long way off it this season, the game against the Pies perfectly illustrates our season, switched on one moment, giving up the next.

I also won’t be surprised if we are in the contest just because of Paddy and Rohan.

Re: I just realised.
On current form the Lions will be odds on to demolish the Saints, irrespective of where the game is played on Saturday night - Metricon looks increasingly likely - but if St Kilda are able to play 4 quarters with the same intensity that they displayed against Richmond and 3 quarters last week, they're a chance.SaintPav wrote: ↑Tue 06 Jul 2021 11:07amGoing on recent history against good teams, I think we’ll most likely get smashed.Vortex wrote: ↑Tue 06 Jul 2021 7:53am Make no mistake about it, we are a long way off it this season, the game against the Pies perfectly illustrates our season, switched on one moment, giving up the next.

You'd reckon the players will be acutely aware that this game gives them the potential to play finals, so there's no shortage of motive and incentive...a big loss and their season will be done and dusted!
Zak Jones will be an important inclusion, probably at the expense of Connolly.

Re: I just realised.
Zak Jones would be huge if he can come back in the type of form he was pre-injury. Admittedly that is a pretty big “if”.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Tue 06 Jul 2021 11:38am You'd reckon the players will be acutely aware that this game gives them the potential to play finals, so there's no shortage of motive and incentive...a big loss and their season will be done and dusted!

He and/or Gresham gives the midfield an extra dimension that it is currently lacking,
If he plays it’s as close as we’ve been to full strength for a while. Of course you’d love Clark, Gresham, Paton (and probably others I’ve overlooked) available. But you can’t have everything.
Does it mean we will win? Of course not, but it gives as a chance.

Re: I just realised.
In 2004 if St Kilda had played their home game against Port Adelaide in Melbourne and not Tassie we would have won and finished top of the ladder. We then would have played all our finals in Melbourne and won the flag by over 40 points.

Re: I just realised.
Is there a reason we were unable to win in Tas?!
It’s was an away game for Port
That excuse is pathetic, can’t win there, don’t deserve to be a premiership contender
They don’t play grand finals indoor I. Perfect conditions
Here’s a thought
Change your mindset towards the ground, and learn to win there, and not use the ground ad an excuse for losing!
We beat hawthorn there with half a side in 2009

Re: I just realised.
There is a class gap between the sides so even if we bring 4 quarters it possibly still won't get the win but it's a strange game and anything is possible especially if the Lions are a couple of clicks off full production.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Tue 06 Jul 2021 11:38amOn current form the Lions will be odds on to demolish the Saints, irrespective of where the game is played on Saturday night - Metricon looks increasingly likely - but if St Kilda are able to play 4 quarters with the same intensity that they displayed against Richmond and 3 quarters last week, they're a chance.SaintPav wrote: ↑Tue 06 Jul 2021 11:07amGoing on recent history against good teams, I think we’ll most likely get smashed.Vortex wrote: ↑Tue 06 Jul 2021 7:53am Make no mistake about it, we are a long way off it this season, the game against the Pies perfectly illustrates our season, switched on one moment, giving up the next.
