This must be an in joke; so many players this season have been maligned by so many posters its had to know who the subject is. I am impressed so many know who the subject in the subject is (27 touches the clue?). I could only guess its not Zac because he is mentioned, but I thought he had been maligned as well. Steele is the only unmaligned player, so far, isn't he? Anyway, thank goodness we are being fair and balanced. Next we will become reasonable and that's surely the end for any forum.

Maligned = harshly or unfairly criticized.

The truth is that Hill has been poor, and at times appalling this year, for a player with his talent.

Hill has played some terrible games this year.

Recognising that you are not performing, and are not doing everything that you need to do is a key step in getting back on track.

If he played every game like he did this week everyone would be happier, Hill, his team mates, coaches fans....

Notice how was mobbed by his team mates when he laid that smother, and the fans roared too. All encouraging him to do, what he needs to do. That encouragement was there at that level because everyone knows that this is what Hill needs to do, but had not been doing.

We all want him to deliver.


PS. Mr 27 has been no lone ranger this season. We have only had a handful of players who have performed well enough this season.

He hasn’t had a good year, because he’s been inconsistent and played more poor games than good.

But he’s not been terrible every game!

I think he is maligned mostly because he has been poor, but also because his style.
He’s not or never will be a Lenny Hayes type aggressive ball hunter who wins contested ball!
He’s an outside player who delivers run and carry and is creative with the ball.

Often those players look bad if the engine room isn’t working

Reckon I saw Brad Hill chase, tackle, smother and deliver with precision in the first 90 seconds of the match. Add Paddy's rucking class and Zac's run and I was pretty confident we were in for a good day.

Plenty of other players were down on form, not just Hill. Apart from Howard and Steele, how many other other players have had stinkers this season? Lots.
