Re: Not fit
Not mentally fit. Biggest bunch of head cases ever.

Re: Not fit
I sat on the bottom deck on the Docklands side of the ground. Late in the first quarter I text my dad that we will lose by 10+ goals. You could clearly see when every player was coming to the bench they’d be almost walking as if they were climbing Everest. On the flip side the tigers blokes were sprinting off. Tonight was disturbing on that front, very Melbourne 2019 like
and that's the bottom line

Re: Not fit
It's because the execution is so poor. We make the game so hard for ourselves and so easy for the opposition.
If the only way you can score is off a turnover and a huge surging run on the rebound to get in over the back of the defence, you will run yourself into the ground.
Or, bang it forward and have to compete for groundballs - the most exhausting part of the game.
Look at richmond - well structured. They all know where to go and where to be. It's efficient player and ball movement.
We, by comparison, look like we've never played together before.
The gap is seriousness between a contender like richmond and us is enormous. They are well drilled, serious, professional. We are amateurs by contrast- the U/18s against the seniors.
The club has a serious problem of accepting seriously low standards.
Look at our injury list - all of them non-contact except Geary and Paton. It's not bad luck - it's awful preparation. Gresham's career has taken a huge hit because the people responsible for his preparation weren't thorough and he ruptured his achilles.
I honestly think the MO of the club is to sell memberships - that's all we care about. Winning a premiership is pretty low on the priority list for us based on the evidence. Trades, novelty, false hope, feel-good stories...we only ever look one year ahead - how can we sell more memberships? - and have completely lacked the structure and serious needed to put together a high standard over a long period of time.

Re: Not fit
IMO our fitness is not the problem skill level & actual game plan is the major concern . After quarter time we just got smashed at the clearances & lost all shape & any sort of composure under pressure. Unfortunately when you come up against quality opposition you need to be able to break momentum but tonight we got rattled & had no answer to counteract their dominance not because we weren't having a crack they were just that much better when it really counted

Re: Not fit
To me this was the lesson in the WCE game that was overlooked.
The take away from that game wasn't or shouldn't have been the 2nd half, but the 1st half.
How we can play with effort and endeavour and be down by 33 points was the key take-away which apparently was glossed over by the club. Execution needs to be addressed.
Classic St.Kilda of recent years - play very dumb footy, very predictable and easy to defend, ski downhill.
