Now that we can write off Gresham & Hannebery for 2021

Post: # 1894741Post cwrcyn »

Our midfield is mostly slow, with few players with high quality foot skills. We need to face it. We don't cut it against half of the midfields in the league

Steele (medium paced, reliable disposal)
Crouch (slow, poor disposal)
Jones (quick, poor disposal)
Ross (medium pace, poor disposal)
Dunstan (slow, poor disposal)
Bytel (slow, no penetration in kicking)
Clark ( medium to quick pace, good disposal)
Sinclair ( see Clark)
Billings ( slow to medium pace, excellent disposal)
Hill ( quick, excellent disposal) use

Have we got a midfield that is slow or do they fall into the medium paced category as an average?

A question for the mathematicians. According to the op... Is the median slow paced or is the median medium paced?

Hannebery will be back in about a month. I would say by mid-May barring training injury mishaps.

Just so long as he doesn't visit sister's stairs again!
Will play a big part in the finals (with Freeman &Lovett)!

I think if we make finals he'll play in them. That's what I believe. And that is when we'd need him.

Slow? as in over 25m or reflexes. Bolt v Pendleberry type comparison or what. I think all the players rated above are quite good/competitive when given a reasonable chance at possession (hint: our fill in rucks suck). Fumbling due to lack of confidence is killing us, of course. Some however are very quick but denied the opportunity to show it. Dunstan, while not a sprint king, has a role in our team I believe, he has excellent close in skills in getting the ball out in tight packs or stopping the opposition; positions well. Unfairly maligned, I think. I know its not a fashionable opinion but I think if Dunstan and McKenzie were assured the coach's confidence for, say, a third of the season they would do ok. The constant negativity sent their way cannot help. When they get completely frustrated with their treatment they will be picked up and flourish in other clubs. Honestly colleagues, and knowingly comparing apples and oranges, do any of you think Dunstan would have done worse than Wood last Saturday. Some of our selectors are looking at what they hope players might be rather than what they are. North cut Wood after a good look, remember that. I hope Luke gets a go. For those that watch training, how does Luke go one on one with Jack Lonie?

No...we bought him to play in the season to get us into the finals and then we need him to play in them as well

Only on a fan forum can this comment slide through. We are currently 2nd bottom on the ladder with a % of 74. After 3 x rounds I recko we are presenting as the 2ndworst team.

The talk of Hannas playing finals is what we got him to the club for is seriously laughable. And the more likely scenario is that we miss finals and Hannebery missed a large chunk of H&A season contributing to us missing

Finey on Footyology this week was implying Gresh was weighing up his footy future and whether to return to footy. Any truth there tony?

Winning a few games early doesn't guarantee finals, losing a few doesn't guarantee you won't. I am not throwing in the towel after two losses.

Not suggesting that we throw in the towel. More addressing your comment we're you're that we're as good a chance as anyone of making the finals. I'd suggest that we're not. Our performances after 3 games indicate we're behind the 8 ball. Yes, things can change but our last two games (particularly the last game) was abysmal. Does that mean that North are as a good a chance as any as well?

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Bens tracking pretty well, no infections or compartment syndrome problems. And Greshs operation was as positive as expected. Jade is pretty down but he’ll bounce back, pretty expected when you have a season ending injury

The other issue is percentage usually becomes very important when you are looking at positions 6-10 and making finals.

70+ point drubbing to a bottom 8 team does not give one confidence we will have a positive %.

Movie pitch: man marooned in physio facility for three years, when he emerges he finds he cannot recognise the game he once loved. Uses his practical knowledge of soft tissue injuries to help others. Carves* great career as life coach and guest speaker, engages Benny Hinn's donations manager, money just keeps appearing, how good is that. His book, Its the Other Leg Now, best seller. Draft of Groin Strains and how to leverage a wip. Never does actually coach, but that's another story.

* 2 calf muscles, get it, both legs, sort of pun. Oh, Sainters don't get the joke?
