Zone defence is dead.
We haven’t got the memo yet.
The new man on the mark rule has put an end to it. The rule was announced in November 2020. It appears we didn’t think it would change the game much.
It appears we’ve just followed on with what we did last year. Our forward entries are far too predictable for opposition defences and our defence is ineffective with the way the ball moves now.
If our coaches can’t adapt we’ll finish bottom 4. Time to earn your keep Ratts. It’s easy to lead when times are good. We need a strong leader more than ever.
Can it be turned around in a couple of weeks, after a preseason of preparation for bygone game.

Re: Zone defence is dead.
I thought our defenders played one on one yesterday and got slaughtered. A lot of the problems stem from a disorganized midfield who gave there opponents to much spaceLeo.J wrote: ↑Sun 04 Apr 2021 5:50pm We haven’t got the memo yet.

GWS using a full press against Melbourne.
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Well zone defending isn't going to work that well when nobody runs. But I noticed it too for the whole game I was wondering when we were going to man up and stop giving Essendon so much space and the easy overlap handball.
