Re: Much much better
My comments weren't made after one poor game. There were a series of them .Go back to my earlier comments if you don't believe me. I think it was something like 3 scoring shots in two halves of football FFS.
I stand by my earlier comments.

Re: Much much better
Maybe they were better teams?
Maybe WCE weren’t as good?
Footy is pretty predictable like that
Good teams generally beat not so good ones
Occasionally there is an upset

M point is
You were lashing Searle for losses
I am suggesting that Coaching is probably not the issue
And personnel is

Re: Much much better
WC had their best players out.
And their ruck was stuffed from the beginning.
And had several injuries during the game.
And kept to their run and gun game plan after we had changed ours to adapt. It was a mistake by their coach for this particular game but maybe a right choice for the long term.
Good game by the Saints. Lost 4 in a row and had to travel to Perth for the first time. Umps and crowd against them early too.
Also Greiser must have had a rocket up her because she tried hard for the first time in 4 games.
I love Vogt and Jacobson and Priest. (The twins 21 and 6 are a gimme).
Good game Peta. Well done. Now need some mature bodies in the off-season. And Fitzpatrick back will also help.

Re: Much much better
Sure, they lack personnel, but they are also lacking a competent coach. IMHFO, that is.

Re: Much much better
I don't think the coach has been the issue. IMO, Peta has been brilliant. We have lacked leg speed up forward so losing Xenos for the year, McCarthy hasn't been able to get it together physically this year as with Exon and Molly McDonald plus not having Liv Vesely all season has been really difficult. Entering this season, we needed all of the above to be up and about given the demographic of our list to give the competition a crack. We've played the two best teams in Dees and Collingwood, GWS are a seasoned team and that was a game where we didn't capitalise on our opportunities, and we belted a fellow expansion team in WC. It seems to me we are on the right path so with a bit of luck, a good trade/draft period, and a strong preseason then I'll back Peta to get the best out of the girls next year!

Re: Much much better
My concern is what is going to happen to the team into a top 4 threat?
Is it coaching? Players?
There is a gulf between the top half of the ladder and the bottom.
West coast sit in the lowest category, which we are clear of, but the next level seems a long way away.

Re: Much much better
Where they finished was about right
A couple of the bigger losses were disappointing
They need some more talent

Exactly. The absence of Vesely and Xenos all season was a real factoroutside66 wrote: ↑Tue 30 Mar 2021 3:07pm I don't think the coach has been the issue. IMO, Peta has been brilliant. Re: Much much better

Re: Much much better
She was a development coach who coached the forwards at Sandy
The AFLW job was at the very worst a sideways move
Definitely not a demotion

Re: Much much better
No don't get me wrong I'm not saying the move to aflw was anything but a positive move for her and one that she has been working towards her whole life
It's more the criticism now that she is with the girls.

Re: Much much better
I'm not exaggerating. With a foundation team, one of Peta's most important jobs is to help establish a positive culture and an environment where players want to stay, develop, and also come to. Peta has accomplished that. Wins/losses have been disappointing but when you consider the amount of players we have had missing (and their positions/roles within the team) then that absolutely helps make more sense of the scoreboard. We'll be right and Peta will be our coach next year.
