Recruiting haul via trades
Hill, Howard, Ryder, Butler, Jones, Crouch, Higgins not inclusive DFA
How often does a club recruit 7 walk up best 18 players with the majority in an age bracket to play 100 games for the club. This is the new Saints.
That is some serious talent recruitment in two off-seasons.
Gone to other clubs Acres, Bruce, Newnes, Hind, Steven and can't recall any others of note.
Of that group really only Acres may end in regret assuming he one day fulfills his talent.

Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.

Re: Recruiting haul via trades
If you look back to the days of bottom 6 team you notice that these players have gone.
This is a team of top 6 players most who have been imported or are still very young.
It even looks like the bottom 6 team players have ben replaced by mercenaries.
But then that is the appearance of most top 6 teams.

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Re: Recruiting haul via trades
Very nice trade period from the club
Added two starting 18 players and 1 depth player for the cost of a future 2nd and a slight slide of a FRDP
Caldwell would have been nice but I look forward to whoever we get with pick 21

Re: Recruiting haul via trades
Another year, another successful trade bounty.
Well done to our list management team...bringing in 2 guys that can really help our midfield is great.
Make no mistake, Jack Higgins will be a terrific mid/ forward, whatever number he has, saints young fans will have it on their backs!
He is an exciting, clever footballer with a high footy IQ and instincts.
Brad Crouch is a ball magnet that just keeps finding the footy, will complement Jones, Steele, Hannebury, Clark, etc. beautifully.
Bring in a couple via the draft plus chip Frawley and away we go!!

Re: Recruiting haul via trades
Acres is the only loss over the past two seasons. He'll have a fine career at Freo.
Now the focus needs to shift to young talent and that will be primarily driven by salary cap restraints.
The past two years has reminded me of that period in the early to mid 2000s when we picked up Milne, Gram, Gehrig, Hamill, Voss, Powell, and picked up a South Australian defender named Sam Fisher.
