Will we spring a late change?

Post: # 1876197Post Gershwin »

Or for that matter will Richmond?

Both sides appear to be going into the match with only one Ruckman. Could it be to our advantage to include Abbott for Marsh. Winning the clearances is vital and surely he could help that against whoever is the 2nd ruckman for Richmond. Also supports King up forward. I know he didn't look particularly good in his only match but he did look in position to take a mark early on and did kick a goal late in the match.

Marsh rucking sends shivers down my spine.

Expect Balta to ruck with Broad back who can only play as a defender

Isn't Roberton or Abbott for Battle more likely?

I'm with you on playing Sean Abbott, Gershwin, fully believe he would give Saints a major advantage - his stats in the single game he played this year are misleading as he didn't get much gametime with both Ryder and Marshall also in that lineup against Hawthorn in Rd 16.

St Kida have played two specialist ruckmen in most games this year, and I'm surprised they haven't continued that in this crucial semi against the Tigers. Just hope this it doesn't cost us the game.....

I would t have thought so...

That late change mind games type approach really doesn’t seem to be a part of Ratten’s MO

I dont think so!

Richmond have only 1 ruckman, so Marsh wont be asked to ruck against a substantive ruckman. Marsh will play the Marshall role forward, he just needs to improve his over headmarking to make a contest. He is ok when the ball hits the ground.

Battle to CHB a good match for JRoo.

Savage to have a blinder done back.

Yeah ya keep banging on about it. Enough already. Paddy is not just a tap ruckman he is a whole lot more than that and so Abbot should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as Paddy.

Got a sneaky feeling that Battle might not make it. So Abbott would come in I guess.

No. It would be Roberton if Battle unfit.

I hope they don't bring Abbott in. Apart from contesting (and that doesn't mean winning) ruck contests, he gives nothing much else. I think someone like Marsh could give just as good a contest in the ruck (for the rare times Marshall isn't there) and give much more around the ground. I'd play Hind, Parker or Philips in this side before Abbott.

So please, no Abbott!

Been warm here today - 30 - though a bit of a breeze. Will cool down after sunset but will prolly still be 22 at game time. No humidity of course and should be no dew this time of year. Metricon turf is always pretty soft so I guess it gets good watering. Other grounds would be rock hard lol as it’s so dry
