WWRHS?
(What would Richo have said?)
Good-aye Saints players,
disappointing result but if you park the last third of the game, some really strong performances and pleasing metrics.
Now we go into recess but that offers the opportunity going forward for players to address issues in a constructive way and drive themselves strongly in that high performance space.
Go Saints.

McCartin would be the happiest bloke in that room. Just for being there.

Good pick up, hadn't noticed him until you pointed it out.
Pretty good gig, gets his contract paid out and still gets to train and use of the facilities.
Talk about an organisation putting their arm around someone, nice work by the Saints.

Re: Ratten speech to the team
I assume all current coaches are the same, so this is not solely about Brett Ratten. Perhaps one day, a coach will speak to a group of grown men as though he is speaking to a group of grown men and not 12yos. If these guys don't know what they should be doing in terms of personal responsibilities, then I think I have found the problem with our team. Other than for birthdays, farewells, etc., the whole group address idea is a waste of time.

Re: Ratten speech to the team
You are ignoring the fact that quite a few of the players at the club are still in their teens. There is also the fact that these days players exist in a "bubble", one that they are encouraged not to stray away from, it is all about maintaining a strict single focus: playing as a team, one in, all in, to the exclusion of everything and anything that may be going on in the world outside of the footy club.perfectionist wrote: ↑Wed 25 Mar 2020 12:52pm I assume all current coaches are the same, so this is not solely about Brett Ratten. Many years ago I was privy to be on the interchange bench with the players (I'd paid big bucks to be honorary boot-studder) and the thing that impressed me most was the intensity of focus by both the players, coaches and support staff on the job at hand - "the bubble". So I believe this address by Brett Ratten was quite appropriate - the players are all of a sudden being cast adrift in a scenario totally foreign to them (as to most of us!) and he would be really concerned that they all come through this crisis unscathed. Last night on AFL 360 both Max Gawn and Jack Riewoldt emphasised how everyone at the footy clubs are family, and now all of a sudden these families are breaking up, with the real possibility that they may not get back together again anytime soon.

Re: Ratten speech to the team
Love your enthusiasm Tony 74 but a 5th quarter is not only fanciful but more likely for North to extend the margin given we were thumped in the 2nd half.

No enthusiasm. Just commenting that Roughead doesn’t say a lot but when he speaks everyone listens.

Re: Ratten speech to the team
Sorry but what does that have to do with what happened in the 3rd & 4th quarters?
There were 3 teams playing out there - North / Saints 1st Half / Saints 2nd half
If Ratten needs Roughy (after the game mind you) to stoke up the players then he is in the wrong profession
That 2nd half was putrid - I am not looking for excuses I am looking for answers
And it wasn't because North upped the ante ..... they just took advantage of our inexcusable meltdown
Why did the team fall apart? Why did they stop playing?
