ST KILDA
Max King – Pick 4
Few players will hit 2020 with more hype than Max King. The big bodied forward had his debut year ruined by injuries but he is already out on the track for pre-season training. As a guide for what Saints fans can potentially expect, his identical twin brother Ben was a star in his debut year for the Gold Coast, booting 17 goals. With outstanding speed and power, the Saints are thrilled with the way Max has launched into pre-season. However, they are also mindful of throwing him in the deep end after moving on Josh Bruce during the trade period.

Re: 2018 draft
I think the deep end is not the issue but the reality is that King is only a second year player and has not as yet developed the body, nor had the experience, to demand a key position in the seniors.
I want Max to be a star as much as every other forumite on this site, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves for this season.
With Bruce an McCartin out we are exposed for key forwards this year - Howard has been recruited as a key defender, Ryder is a ruck, Members is a great third tall forward and Battle has spent last year performing well as a defender.....

Re: 2018 draft
Expectation is something our club never manages well, we have more options for a tall forwards than ever before to temporarily fill the void while waiting for King to show what he's got and if he can actually in fact make it at the elite level. Giving him the No 12 and expecting him to be equal or even better to the last bloke who wore the number concerns me.
