Saints must get Ross Lyon

We did highly pay about 10-12 players which left no room for other players. Geez they were very good players though.

Ross Lyon was a couple of kicks and one bounce from being a legend at st Kilda. He had the cattle to do his game plan and it workwd. Went to Freo and almost did the same.
Problem with Ross is he is a great tactician but not sure he is a development coach which we desperately need.
Still not sold on ratten yet as he is our forward and ball movement coach, I think. Neither area appears to be improving but I'd take him over richo

The reason the Saints did not win 3 premierships was 20%.

The 20% too much that 10 players took that prevented the importation of the 2 elite players who would have got the club over the line in those 3 premierships.
Those players have names, club legends and heroes.
They start with Riewoldt, Ball, Goddard, Dal Santo, Hudghton, Gram ..............
It came down to a choice of money or glory, they thought they could have both, they missed out on glory.

You don't get it, you don't win premierships by paying players similar amounts to those at other clubs.
You win by paying LESS and therefore being able to afford more elite players than those other clubs.

Maybe that’s it. A game day coach needs to be a tactician first and foremost. In selection, game plans, flexibility, boldness. Gets results with tactics. Did our blokes like Ross much? Did it matter?
