Our first pick could be anywhere from 3 to 6.

Our % is relatively high. So a win or two will see us a few places higher than 3rd last.

I agree. we will win a few more games in the second half. Add the possibility of a Melb compo pick and we could be placed 7th to eighth in the Draft which would dismiss any thoughts of obtaining Patton, Boyd, Aish etc.

Well, 7-8 could net us Adams and a second rounder, McEvoy could net us pick 1 for Boyd/Aish.

Beginning to think we do have to take our focus away from the best couple in the draft, as nice as they'd be to build upon.

Does McEvoy want to leave? We've just spent time developing him as we'll as recruiting hickey for support. The club isn't going to trade McEvoy.

Tend to agree, but with a potential 15 year dominant full forward to take his place and build a team around who knows? It truly is early days and those in charge would have a great idea of whether the Hickey/Stanley/McEvoy combo will work. Not to mention the very promising signs that the skinny Pierce is showing.

I personally rate Mac a lot higher than most, but we cant have a team with two players who can only play ruck. So Hickey must develop a fwd game...

But in answer to your question, McEvoy has a nice little parcel of land in Mt Martha and that probably keeps him sane. Dont think he'd want to go to Sydney but stranger things have happened.

If we were to swap our #3 pick for 2 later picks what would be the best we could get in return? Would say Picks 10 & 20 be a fair swap ?

Not the worst idea, but we did a bit of this in the compromised drafts.

Now draft is back to normal - Time to bring in a future star at pick 3-6.

If we get pick 3 our 2nd round pick is still potentially early 20's.

Must use pick 3 on beat available.

Wouldn't be upset if we used 2nd rounder in a trade to upgrade a pick or go for a good young player who can't get a game at a club higher up the ladder.

Nope. Depends on the depth of the draft, but pick 3 for picks 8 and 12 would be about the least I'd take.
