Well he is at Collingwood! Dealing with Ed, MM and Bucks couldn't be easy. Not to mention the supporters :D

So these "internal problems" are now undeniable facts are they?

What are they and where can I verify all these problems from a reliable source?

You know like the Herald Sun or some other Murdoch persuer of the truth?

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Is he a leader of men?

Is he tough enough?

Is he smart enough?

Does he have enough mongrel in him?

Will he make the hard decisions?

All questions that need to be addressed.

I wouldn't know this guy from a bar of soap so I really couldn't say. But I'd be more comfortable with a known quantity such as Eade, particularly with this group.

The concern that I have is that Watters is in more of an "advisory" role than a "decision-making" role. I don't know the guy. he is probably brilliant technically, but how good are his "people management" skills. Will he (or other young assistants) be able to get the job done?

The "good news" is that the Saints have put in place a wide-ranging and very experienced Coaching Panel, with some great "people" evaluation skills. I feel reasonably confident that the best decision for the Club will be made - it is the most crucial appointment for the Club in a long time.

It's a fair point you raise JO.

I'm sure there's a few people down here in Geelong who felt the same about a year ago.

Just gotta trust the panel to make the right decision I reckon.

Watters coached Claremont to back to back premierships in the WAFL before getting the Collingwood gig. He must have done something right !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Jon Ralph on SEN just said that Watters will be interviewed on Wednesday. He also basically said that every man and his dog has been asked about coaching the Saints.
Eade will be director of coaching at Filth next year he said. MM will definately not be at Pies at all!

Watters has coached premiership teams in the WAFL.

I think he would have man-management skills.

No Gary Ayres "yeah, nah's" in that.

Spoke really well. IF he has a philosophy on coaching that can balance attack/defence....he's the man.

The "vibe" is good...

just been on the VFL review on SEN and Finey asked him if he has had any contact from the one club with a remaining job-
Ayres said he hadn't and maybe Finey could ask Pelch-knew him from Hawthorn-
Finey said he couldn't beleive the club

I made the assumption he also hadn't made an approach-

and I too am not unhappy- no logical reason just don't feel he would fit.

I was trying to find the link but to no avail. But I recall reading last week when his name came up Ayres was quoted as saying something like "they should give me a call".

No Gary. YOU, or YOUR Manager, should apply for the job. You know there's a position going and you should be doing everything in your power to convince the Saints to consider your job application.

You are not an AFL Premiership coach. You have not coached in the AFL since you quit the Crows mid season in 2004. You have been overlooked by AFL clubs ever since, including the Saints in 2006.

Nothing personal Gazza, but it's a bit egotistical, and fanciful on your part to think WE should chase YOU

Yep, it's a really big part of the process these days. He may just blow the expert panel away.

Maybe we should have recruited Bruce to the panel? He may have thought Watters was deliciously special
