Football memberships are purchased by supporters.

Football suporting is about PASSION and HOPE.

The stuffed shirt businessmen can stick their suits and ties up their *****.

Richmond will now benefit from this passion and hope.
St Kilda will merely request people to buy memberships.

I thought this forum was for debating football issues
It is so take your petty insults and continue wuth them elsewhere.

And for those who are wanting facts, consider these:

FACT - Ben Cousins now plays for Richmond
FACT - Ben Cousins will NEVER play for St Kilda

If you dont like it, GET OVER IT!

Lets get on with what we all should be doing, and that is supporting our club (and I mean CLUB, not just TEAM) for 2009, and stop this petty oneupmanship!

Listening to Wallace's speech now at work - first class.

Football IS for the fans first and foremost, but this was an opportunity to give a bloke a second chance.

Thrilling stuff.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

Ace, with respect, if you really believe that our club is finished because we didn't get Cousins, then...

I personally don't see (apart from perhaps the BC decision) where we've put a foot wrong with our drafting.

Anyone would think we were going to win the spoon next year judging by the reaction.

If a club needs BC in order to seel memberships, then that club is desperate IMO.

Of course there's a surge in membership... BC will be their Messiah that will lead them to the Holy Grail.

The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.

I'll say it again - the fans have nothing to do with this. Richmond took BC because the football dept thought it was the right thing to do. Nothing to do with fans.

Second chance - yeah great for BC. Personally I dont want my football club to be some halfway house for "reformed" drug addicts.

Wallace is now a puppet and Sheedy is pulling the strings.

how many flags Sheedy have?

How many does Wallace have?

Every little bit of good input from everybody at the club helps to win a premiership

Yup - just hope Richmond can handle the scrunity if Benny boy gets back on the gear.

As for Wallace - lame duck ever since March wouldn't extend his contract.

Sheedy is now defacto coach of Richmond with Wallace having no say in what happens.

good luck Richmond - you will need it, if what I hear is true.

Jesus wept Ev, he's hardly Winston Churchill......

I would have liked to have had Cuz, Wallace gave a good speech. BC remains a huge risk - Wallace remains a turd....... hardly enough to get one come over all weak at the knees.....

I called you an idiot because if im a passionate saints supporter than why the hell wouldn't I have a saints membership for next season (ummm let me see in the current economic climate, maybe because you don't have any money, I don't know, I only posed the question no need to resort to calling somebody an "idiot") ...... I don't need to leave if im not starting any fights mate
I do believe that if you are calling somebody an idiot, for asking a perfectly reasonable question

you are starting fights

mate

+1. Well said FQF.

I wanted BC at St Kilda and don't like it that we were fobbed off by the board instead of getting the real reasons, whatever they are. But isn't wasn't it time to draw a line under this a fortnight ago when we decided not to draft him?

We'll see it play out next year. See if his hammys are ok, see if he can still perform..... and most importantly see if he can stay off the gear....

Not really.

I never simply accepted the War in Iraq once it was official we were going.

Obviously very different levels of importance we're talking about - however the point is that the Board of a footy club does not deserve unreserved support once they've made decisions. Infact the opposite. They should be held very accountable constantly, not left alone and with complete support until the next election - they should be kept on their toes constantly.

The same as governments.

You don't have to support your government and blindly and sheepishly follow and support their every decision to love your country.

This concept of simply accepting the Board's decisions cause we support the club is not my style.
I support the club - not the Board. The Board has a constant challenge to earn support. They don't get it simply because they're lucky enough to be running my club.

It will be interesting to see how it pans out..especially when i personally believe the AFL didn't want Ben back. I just don't know if we as supporters can ever be certain that Ben is clean when players who weren't were running around freely this year (unsure if that's common knowledge?). I guess we can only wait and see, I hope Cousins is over his addiction and has a smooth recovery, just as long as we continue to beat the Tiges and we remain above them on the ladder :P
